For USA Cycling Events and Women's and Cats

Question about doing races through USA Cycling.
As often the women's categories have a small field. and women also race a small distance then men.

As they do group Cats together.
if a woman is racing a Cat 4 category. and the races is 23 miles , vs mens cat 4/5 is 46 miles

is it possible for woman to ask to race in Mens' category? or at least race in same field as the men, if their ability is very strong?

can they be put in 2 categories? for that event? get a win for womens category and something else if racing also a duo in mens etc? thanks

Women can race down one category (i.e. Cat 3 woman can race cat 4 mens) or down 10 years in masters (i.e. 25yo woman can race 35+ Masters).

All of the questions you ask are explained clearly in the USAC rule book. I suggest you read it.

As for racing two categories simultaneously, that is up to the promoter. I have seen some promoters when doing combined masters fields scored separately allow a person to register for both, so if they win the race, they get both prizes. In the races I put on, we do not allow that.

As this message was on behalf of someone else and was confusing but question was this woman is signed up to usa cycling event in Cat 4 but so far only one signed up who has good ability. was wondering if she can also keep the one lap for her category but also race mens cat 5 and do 2 laps as well, and if possible double dip in prizes?

Not really clear on the question.

So, the racer wants to race both the women's cat 4 field AND the men's cat 5 field? Will they be run simultaneously? If so, then you have to pick one and race that one. If they are raced at different times and can be completed independently of one another, then the racer can do both (e.g., AM cat 4 race and PM cat 5 race).
