I bought these NEW FSA 36cm wide bars for collegiate TTs (yea 36cm) on eBay.
Junior said they were not flat enough on top - so I got the RMA and started my 1st ever eBay return. I dread returns. I printed the eBay postage label, put them in the same box with same packaging and sent them back - July 7. I got them back July 21 rejected by addressee saying they were over 1lb (I used the eBay return label).
I called eBay dreading the pain I was going to go through. They said - I get a refund and keep the bars.
Something is very weird here.

I'd like to confirm this is all real....so waiting a few days. This seller deserves their parts - but I deserve not having to run to the post office and spend my time after they rejected what I already sent back.

That's a bummer, I'd sort of been looking forward to the idea of it.

I'm a big fan of Sam. The few times I've been around for a P12 or P123 race in the last 3 years I've watched so I could see him race, except a couple where I watched Ben. Incredible error on Sam's part, of which I only learned of today. Of course now he'll be famous forever, so there's that.
In every other race he's an astute rider, maybe one of the most astute, definitely for his age/experience. He rode smarter and better than me less than a year after he started racing; I asked him how many years he had raced before taking a break and getting moved back to Cat 5, I figured him for a Cat 3 (couldn't be a 2 else they wouldn't have made him a 5), he was that smart. His reply was that he'd done a couple races the prior fall but this was his first real go at racing. He was truly a Cat 5.
He is also a good guy on the bike. In my Series he won every sprint handily for the first 5 weeks, sometimes by 30 or 40 feet, but somehow ended up so far back in the final sprint that the next rider on GC won the overall. That next rider was a new (road) racer (pro mtb racer), his team helped sponsor my race, and the sponsor was super happy that his rider won the overall of the Cat 5s. Sam seemed way too happy after losing that final race, making for a perfect race for one of the race's sponsors. He denies losing on purpose, of course, but his big grin tells me otherwise.
He was stronger than me, fine, but he didn't waste his energy blasting holes in the wind. He knew how to sit, how to follow, and when he was a 3 (a couple months after he was a 5) he went with more moves than I could follow, and has a far superior sprint to me. In fact he won every race that I entered that he was in when we were both 3s. By August he was a 2 and podiumed in his first P12 race (first race as a 2, P12 race, I think he got 2nd?).
To me he has the tactical astuteness that every rider should strive for, a fluency that belies his saddle time. He made an error above, of course, but it's an error that other great riders have made.

All of August is unstructured do whatever off season break mode for me, so I definitely will. Also, trying to buy a house right now, so I might be a little closer to you soon. Shooting for serra mesa, clairemont, or mira mesa atm!

Whenever I access this site on my phone, I get a strange pop up ad that looks like a Facebook page offering me a $1000 gift card. If I hit back, it takes me to the main index.
Anyone else have this issue?

And as a counter-point to CDR: I have raced with Sam many times as we are both from the greater Boston area. While there is always going to be some amount of race banter and yelling I have several distinct memories of Sam throwing personal insults at me ("Dan you ****ing moron!") for simple things such as chasing down his teammates or attacking.
I feel zero need to cut Sam an ounce of slack for this screw up. He does not have a sterling reputation by any means in the greater Boston area. I appreciate he has taken responsibility for this screw up, I can see how this happens, but I feel I can speak for many of the local cyclists when I say "The only thing that is sad here is that he took out another rider in the process".
There is no doubt Sam is a great bike racer, probably much better than I will ever be, but that does not give him carte blanche to throw personal insults or act the way he has in the past or the way he acted in that race.

I've only really gotten to know Sam this year, but my interactions (mostly off the bike) with him have always been very positive. honestly mistake and all that.
