In the money!

I placed second (among 5 Cat 4 women ) this weekend and won $10 cash and a wheel bag.

They ran the 4/5 men and juniors along with the 4 women, and though bad bike handling put me off the back flying solo for about 5 or 6 laps, when the pack lapped me I jumped on and found it lovely to sit in, was able to hang with the fellas for ~3 laps, I even attacked them briefly when they were too slow for me on a downhill bit, until there was a solid and successful attack on the 100 meter climb with 2 to go, which blew me up.

That made me feel really good and strong, even if I was whupped pretty badly by the gal who beat me.

My new bike is built, and she's a beaut. So much lighter and more responsive, even my amateur self can tell. She's got SPD-R pedals that are really hard to click in and out of even at the loosest setting, but I'm going to try to get used to em on my commute today.

Pics will be posted to the Road forum hopefully today.

Me either, this bike racing stuff rocks! I'm super nervous about my next one though, 24.2 mile course, with the attached elevation profile. And there's no women's field so I'm racing with the Cat 5/Citizens. Eep!
