Are the folks running the world Masters cycling championships ********?

The UCI world masters cycling championships are being held in Emonton, Alberta Canada at the end of July. After looking at the 2003 results, I thought I could be competitive so I telephoned them to enter the event. They told me that entries closed on May 20th - no exceptions. One of my riding partners is Earl Henry, the current 500 meter sprint world champion. I related my story of woe to him, and he told me that the same thing happened to him - they would not even make an exception for the reigning world champion. He, BTW, recieved no notification as to the dates or cutoff dates, but knew basically when they were being held. To further make me think they are totally ********, John Sinibaldi, two-time Olympian, ten time National Champion, inductee into the cycling hall of fame was also turned away. Are the Canadians nuts, or what??? The latter case is the one that really astounds me - hell, if I was the organizer I would have paid Sinibaldi's way into the event. I am honored that I cycle on the same streets that he does!
