Belgian TV (according to cyclingnews.com) says no fractures, but could be very gimpy for M-SR, and that was a definite goal of his.

Poor Stuey O'Grady is a whole 'nother thing. He's done for the spring classics after falling yesterday and breaking a clavicle and five ribs...May not be ready for the Giro or Tour; ribs can give you fits.

And for those interested (2Rodies!!!), the Barber and Phonak control Paris-Nice again, and Floyd is one day closer to the biggest win of his career.

wow.

well it certainly eases the decision of Boonen or Bettini taking the lead in M-SR...

It really is too bad about Bettini, he was on some GOOD legs... but, man, what tires are CSC on? It's Lars Bak who took out Bettini, O'Grady is out, Vandevelde is out, Matti Breschel has two fractured vertebrae... they aren't going to have any riders left in a while...

think this actually leaves Quick Step in an inferior positon for MsR... before they had a two pronged attack with Bettini going early for the win if he comes back (...and EVERYONE will have to chase that attack) then Boonen get to follow the wheels and he goes for the sprint... now they only have Boonen and they have to hope that it ends in a sprint.

Good theory, and very possibly how it will play out but Milgram may have something to say about it. If they do they will definately keep it together for Pettachi. Then may the best man (BOOOOOOnen) win!!!!

Sometimes I wonder bout CSC, look at all the crashes they
had at the tour last year (or was it year before?) 19mm tires
on rain slick roads?
If I were ol' Bjarne I'd be looking for a new equiptment guy.
M-SR? Pettachi vs Boonen with Italian pride winning out.
Shame that Floyd is gonna peak too soon, no way can he
carry this form into July.

Well Bettini showed in 2003 that it is possible to get away and ruin the day for the sprinters... need to force the sprinters teams to chase hard enough on the Cipressa (and before) and they have nothing left to chase on or after Poggio... but Bettini is a unique rider and i'm not sure that anyone else could pull that off these days... he was on such good form... sucks that he likely won't be at MsR of if he is there he likely won't be on top of his game..

yes Milram and and also Rabobank with Freire

Well we have left out Daniel DiLuca. He is very 'Bettini' like and I believe he has set M-SR as an objective this season. I think this is going to be one of the best M-SR's ever. With Boonen and Pettachi trying to prove who's the fastest man on the block and DiLuca without Bettini to worry about it could well be a barn burner!
