Another board i frequent requested a Sea Otter write up

So I figured you guys might get a kick out of my pain also LoL

I was kinda bummed cuz they sent me a link with what was supposed to be pictures of me racing...but got them mixed up with some loser mtb racer LOL

pre-race pic (all smiles at this point) im on the far right

first time ive shaved my legs ever...kinda like it and have decided to keep it up during the race season - nice roadie tan going on LOL

my one year old having a great time at the event

all in all a great event, and i just signed up for another race. Its called the Lotaja and its a 200 mile race across 2 states...oh ya :barf: this one will hurt

ill type up a quick write up.

Started off strong and hung with the pack about 3-4 back off the front. In one of the sweeping right hand turns the guy to the left of me went wide right into the gravel and went down hard. OUCH! My buddy later told me he took one other guy with him and my buddy ended up bunny hopping over one of his wheels.

So i was feeling pretty good and thought i may have a chance at a top ten finish - that was untill we hit the WALL...hill went straight up and was a biatch. I was able to hang on and stick with the group but knowing I had to do that hill (along with a few others) I realized my dreams of a top 10 finish were dwindling. One other time someone up front locked up and a caused a domino effect with me locking up both tires to avoid a collision. Thankfully we all held it together and no one went down. I shouted out that my boss wouldnt be happy if i was a no-show on Monday morning and to please be more ****ING careful.

2nd lap I was able to hold on but my legs were feeling the pain...i was drifing back on the hills then making time on the downhills. Third shot at the WALL broke me and i watched in pain as the pack crested the hill with me about half way up....bummer. Legs were screaming! I grouped up with about 5 other riders that were dropped and we attempted to bridge the gap. We make some progress at at first but then faded and we slowly watched the peloton creep away.

4th and final lap. I was alot faster then my group on the downhills and faster then all but one on the uphills so i took off on my own. About half way through the lap my legs begin to cramp whenever I stood or if I were to push it harder then say 60%. I knew I was close to done. Put my head down and kept going-

Last ten miles I could visably see my legs cramping and watched in awe as my legs knotted up into balls of pain. I had to slow down - i was bonking. Again just kept my head down and kept going. The finish was uphill and i dont believe I have ever felt this kind of pain + a mixture of nausea before. 1 meter from the finish one of the guys that I broke away from caught me and passed me. Damn there goes my 33rd place finish LoL :flipoff2:

I finished the race 34th place and was in bad shape. I felt depressed moody and was quickly cooling off and then got the shakes. I was a good 10 minutes ahead of one of my buddies and as soon as he showed up at the finish he told me to go to the car as i didnt look good LoL. He was going to wait for our other team mate.

Barely made it to the car - about a 6 mile ride. Once at the car everyone regrouped and i was a grouchy mofo...needed food badly. Again my buddy saw my face and took off his jacket and gave it to me, its friends like that that gives me hope for humanity LoL.

Okay said goodbyes and headed to the hotel - I was SOOOO happy we decided to get a hotel 6 miles down the road instead of driving all the way home like my teammates. We hit Mcdonalds and I orded the largest order of McNuggets they offered and basically was racing my 6 year old to devour them the fastest...needless to say i kicked his ass YES VICTORY. After eating I immediatly started to feel better. Got to the hotel took a hot shower and my wife was nice enough to give me a leg massage. I was in good spirits at this point and we really enjoyed the rest of the weekend (went to the Monterey Aquiriam <sp>)

thanks for reading
