TT helmets and xxcycle.com

i have read a lot lately that experts are finding that a TT helmet makes a lot bigger difference than previously thought. given that, i've found the bell meteor II and the giro advantage TT helmets at xxcycle.com overseas. has anyone ordered from them before? any problems? looks like shipping would be in the neighborhood of $18. thanks

I ordered my Giro Advantage from xxcycle and had no issues. Shipping was quite prompt (helmet was in-stock) and I had it within 10 days of paying. They even take paypal

Not that this will help, but I have a buddy with an Advantage. Next time I see him, I'll find out where he got it. That helmet is hot. Makes my LG look like a bowling ball with a tail.

I just posted this in onther thread, I bought the Advantage also, but I got it from Totalcycling.com in Ireland. It took about a week to get it. Whomever you buy it from make sure that it really is in stock. They are running out of certain sizes in both the Advantage and the Bell Meteor II. I tried to buy the Meteor from two other Euro shops and they were out of both models in my size and I was told that it wouldn't be until late summer before more stock was expected.

I have bought some stuff from xxcycle.com and had no problems. Something to keep in mind though, most credit card companies will charge you fee for converting from Euros to dollars. Something like 4%. That may eat up some of the savings.

Hmm I didn't know that, that's good info for the future. As for the TT helmets they won't be available in the US until Fall/Winter 06 so even if you pay a premium your getting it early.

Great! No problem, I'm glad it worked out. One thing I forgot to mention about these helmets is they don't ventilate like your standard RR helmet, so that takes some getting used to.
