Thats my point....he came up short with all the problems I noted ( my list of all his critics complaints ). Imagine his career if he even trained a little....after all he is the chronic underachiever, correct? As has been pointed out earlier by others...late again with training, overweight, too nice, etc. We have guys like Evans, Levi, Landis... just shooting for a podium. Jan is either winner or "first loser" while being the only real contender to the " Greatest TDF rider ever" .

It's far more appreciated by many to achieve results in others events than TRY and beat the best at the toughest event. Jan could have given in and won multiple Giro's and Vuelta'. He chose the tough road...could have been better prepared but fought his butt off and deserves some more love,IMO. But you know that Rojo.

He did come up short....against the best. I love to babble

7th place 16 sec back overall @ TOS...TBC

Take it easy guys. Yesterday's final climb was peanuts compared to what is expecting them in TDF (13kms at average 4.8% ). It was actually an ideal stage for Ullrich. He had his team work for him in order to avois any bad surprise from the Wurth team ( Vicioso, Jaksche and Co ). Will be fun today I guess.

All this and still the second best TDF rider in the last 10 years. If this guy could even work on a couple of his issues would have been the greatest rider ever. He must be laughing all the time at these guys who actually work at this stuff when he just skates along. LA weighed his food while Jan just ate it all...and whos the dummy?
Like his head? And then there is his head.

Last, would be the tactical geniuses that he is surrounded with...you know, the ones that had him attack Armstrong in '01 because from a TV shot they thought Lance was having a bad day...

Or the ones that had Tmobile run down Vino on a break...or the ones that let Ullrich lay in bed and watch video of the final time trial when it was pouring down rain and Lance was sick and hurt...so Jan crashed on his @ss in great glory...had Armstrong down and on the mat and he STILL lost?

Most talented athlete ever? Please...talent starts between the ears.

Yeah, at this point, he should have really dominated the stage, not just held on and looked menacing. Dude better call Jenny Craig and Richard Simmons, he only has a few weeks.

Don't forget the error of someone putting his front wheel on backwards during a Tour of Germany TT last year.

cyclingnews - Ullrich's wheel on backwards

Can't believe anyone takes that thing seriously... it is just a rebranded generic frame... Ullrich had no part in the brand conception except loaning his name to Steinhauser and Stefan Ullrich... and then a bunch of folks go GA GA over it....

*on second thought*
I guess marketing does work - two guys using a rider's name, without any technological skills of their own or manufacturing capability... can create the illusion that their bike is great. (Not saying it is a bad bike - but not worth the price tag).

People go crazy over Colnagos, Litespeeds, etc. Many companies, including those two use generic frames. The difference may be that the generic frame used on the JU is not readily available, whereas the frames used on litespeeds and colnagos sometimes are. See Scattance CFR.

It's a Taiwanese Pedalforce, but Ullrich fans are kinda dillusional anyway.

What is Pedalforce, and does Ullrichs bike really look like one? Is it the cycling equivalent of "everything tastes like chicken"??
