End of My Racing Season

well, that's it...the end of the racing season for me here in ohio. still an odd tri or two left, but i can't find any more road races or time trials. SO, i guess i'm pleased with how it went. my first year at racing and i went field, 9th, field, 7th, 3rd, 4th. i learned something (usually five or six somethings) every race. i think the improvement throughout the season came more from experience than it did from any conditioning. heck, my best finish was done with the worst legs. i'm gonna bust my a$$ on the trainer in the basement this winter, build a base for the first time in my life, and see if i can come out blazing next year. i'd like to try and cat up to the 4's (don't wanna be one of those cat sandbaggers), but my job and dislike for crits kept me from the magic 10 i needed. can i get a waiver from that? do time trials count?

Way to go, Smoke... your season and post-season plan sound a lot like mine.

Except I have the option to cat up over the winter, or wait till I can get 1-2 races in next spring. If I win one tomorrow I think I'll cat up for sure, if not I'll be a little torn and will have to see what the winter brings...

I'm not sure TT's count, which seems kinda ridiculous to me. I'd throw an upgrade request on USAC with your TT results and see what happens. If they were good they might let you cat up.

I don't think TTs counts. They count Mass Start only I belive. Makes sense considering Cat 5 is basically a learnning category.
I still have a circuit race (tomorrow), Crit next weekend, probably a TT, and a stage race left. So my season won't end untill end of Septemer. So tired! Really considering not doing a TT, even though it's my favorite type of race.

i'm not sure how it works where you are, but i upgraded from 5 to 4 in arizona where they let me count apprx 18months as a race season, thereby getting me the 10 required mass starts. but i think the rationale is that since there's basically no racing in phoenix from mid may to mid august it's only fair to allow 2 seasons of racing count towards an upgrade.

ps-i was required to have 10 mass starts; TT's and TTT's didn't count.

There's no time frame on 5 to 4. 10 mass starts, in how ever long it takes you.

I am having the late season blues.

Probably I am just resisting completion.

Only three weekends of racing left, I should make the most of it.
