Fun stuff. I'm going to be training in Solvang that week and hope to catch the ITT stage and get some autographs too. :)

DiabloScott 12-06-06 07:58 PM

Damn I wish they'd do a mountain finish on Hamilton. The hills in the race are tough but there's too much distance left afterwards for the hill climbers to stay ahead.

TheKillerPenguin 12-06-06 08:11 PM

That prologue is gonna hurt...

EventServices 12-06-06 08:46 PM

Can't wait.
Can't wait.
Can't wait.

I'm excited about Stage 2. After flying down the River Road from Woodland to West Sac, they'll come over the Tower Bridge, do three circuits around the Capitol and finish in front of the West Steps. I'll probably be able to see the finish line from my office window.

Since I ride these streets everyday, I'm going to make a standing offer to any racer: I'll point out every crack and pothole on N and L Street for $100 or a signed jersey.

I've ridden the part of stage two that goes past Lake Berryessa. It's pretty and is also part of the Davis Bike Club's Foxy Fall Century.

OUCH! Embarcadero then up Telegraph Hill? Damn... that's gonna suck.

btw, the top of the hill isn't that big of an area. In fact, if they end in the parking lot, it's quite small..... seems like a logistical nightmare!

huytheskigod 12-07-06 11:31 PM

They'll go right by my house in stage 2 when they go up pole line road in davis!!!!! Hey boss....i'm going to be sick that day...cough cough.

You got that right! It's the same Prologue as last year when I course marshalled at Coit Tower. I helped the riders carry their bikes some a flight of stairs so they could ride back to their team trailers. Some of those guys could barely walk down the stairs because their legs were toast!

btw, Landis didn't need any help at all. He looked fresh.

hah, I didn't realize! Having been to the area in person over the summer, I can truly apreciate how much thats gonna hurt.

Anyone know what type of coverage the ToC is going to get this year? Is it the same deal, one hour at 2 in the morning?

According to velonews:
"The second race will be televised nightly for a total of 14 hours by Versus (formerly the Outdoor Life Network) in one-hour programs and various other recaps. Last year, the race was broadcast in a shorter nightly format on ESPN 2."

That's all that I've seen so far about television coverage.

Call the English Department. I'm sure they've got some extra verses lying around.

EventServices 12-08-06 05:09 PM

Caloso, that was good. Well done.

DiabloScott 12-11-06 10:41 AM

Somebody last year got me on video tape at the top of Sierra Road, and posted it on UTube - click here, I'm at t= 6 seconds waving the large California Flag on the opposite side of the street.

Bump for the team announcement.

And because I just booked my tickets to SFO. I'll be there for the prologue and stage 1. Yay. :D

I'd let you stream it off my homegrown DVR, but the bandwidth would probably get my internet turned off.

I'm not sure you'd want to draft a guy from Team Slipstream Powered by Chipotle (USA)*

Really, couldn't they have just called themselves "Chipotle"?

domestique 01-17-07 03:34 PM

Looks good, can't wait to see Bettini in the World Champion strips racing in America!

Yes, that was announced quite a while ago. He injured his knee the other day but it looks like he'll be fine and still come.
