I've about worn my current pair out.. (diadora team racer..blah blah whatever else... carbon soled)
I'm thinking about some specialized bg s-works shoes; anyone with any experience??
any other good suggestions?

I just bought a pair of s-works shoes (boa lacing), barely used, for cheap off CraigsList. They're enroute now. I have pretty standard-width feet, but my Shimano r151's were causing sharp pain on the outside of my right pinky toe, which seems to jut out maybe an extra millimeter... not a whole lot, but anyone familiar with this shoe knows that much of the sides and upper are a hard plastic and there is no give whatsoever.
I've been putting up with this for several thousand miles, mostly because I am a cheap bastard and when the pain arises I just shift my foot around and it is mitigated a bit. Well I'm over that so I sprung for these s-works.
Tried these on at the local dealer first. I'm a size 43/10, but the toebox on the s-works is narrower than most of the Specialized offerings, which trend towards the wider side. The shoe overall is a more snug, but not uncomfortable, fit. It cradles your entire foot more closely and looks and feels very minimal & light. The carbon bg pro, one step down, has a noticeably wider toebox.
So I took the 43.5/10.5 size s-works, because I want some extra buffer space for when my feet expand on long hot rides. Difference in fit between a 10 and 10.5 is actually barely perceptible.
Something else I discovered is that the boa lacing does indeed distribute the "lacing" pressure evenly. However, if you are someone who likes to tighten the top strap and leave the middle and forefoot straps loose, you will quickly realize this is impossible with boa lacing. Specialized realized this i'm sure, and provides a lone forefoot strap on the s-works shoe just to offer more control over forefoot snugness.

I've had R151s for almost three years...they're starting to wear out pretty well, but they're still a great shoe. I bought them primarily because they were the only carbon soled road shoe locally available in a wide size.
No complaints with the 151s.
Next pair will probably be Sidi Genius 5.5 Megas, as I'd like something with ratchet closure.
