How long are collegiate road races?
As the title implies, what length do college road races last? And what about time trials?
thanks :) |
Collegiate D-categories are usually 25-35 mile RR and 15-20 TT.
Collegiate A is 45-75 mile RR and usually the same TT course. |

Midwest, A.

I am also MWCCC, A
|
I will also be racing in the midwest. I don't know what category yet as I have never been on a road race before. I BMX raced for about 7 years and have done a few mtb races. I will most likely end up in B.

Atlantic Coast here :)

Eastern baby! Nothing like racing through Boston in the middle of March!
According to the Collegiate Rule book: Suggested minimums are: Men A: RR 60 miles Crit: 60 min. Men B: RR 40 miles Crit: 45 min. Women A: RR 40 miles Crit: 45 min. Men C: RR 30 miles Crit: 30 min. Women B: RR 30 miles Crit: 30 min. Men D: RR 20 miles Crit: 20 min. |

Another Midwest Conference rider. I'll do my first or second or second race as a B, and then probably move up from there. I'm already looking forward to the long car ride to OSU for the first race of the season. I'll be interested in seeing how competitive the conference is compared to the West Coast Conference, where I raced last year. |
yup ill be racing MWCCC as well. no idea what category though since i picked up a bike and started riding it 7 months ago and havnt raced yet. hopefully i see some of you out there? putting a face to some of these names would be nice.

rocky mountain CCC hell yeah

Wow, plenty of MWCCC folks here. It's gonna be a fun season. I'll probably spend most of my time in B's.

Pete: It's not on our preliminary schedule but I can talk to the team. Here's the races that I have:
Feb 24-25 Wm and Mary (crit and road race) March 3-4 Navy (crit and TTT- maybe rr) March 25 UVa (road race) March 31-Apr 1 Wake Forest (crit and rr) Apr 14-15 NC State (crit and rr) Apr 21-22 WVU Conf Championships |
I heard that Maryland was doing a joint event with the ECCC this year, possibly in Philadelphia. I think this is tentatively the third weekend of the season. This is according to information that went out through our listserv a few days ago.

No, it's the weekend before that. I guess the interconference weekend will replace the JHU crit/UMD RR. Nice to see that the UMD crit is still on the schedule. That one is my favorite.

Today was my first time out on my road bike in good weather. I averaged 20mph over 25 miles, so I have a way to go. But I figured it isn't too bad of a time considering I've only been riding a little over a month (on my mtb). I would love the oppurtunity to race at CSU next year if I was good enough. For now I will focus on having fun!
Should I try to get faster over the 25 mile ride, or should I increase my distance? What would be better for reaching a goal of riding 25 mph over 50 miles (flat terrain)? |
