I think the OP was talking about USF. My point is that collegiate A races are not as deep as a Pro I-II race. I unerstand that there are guys that are 1's, ands 2's and even pros. However not all the guys in a Colegiate A race are at the 2 level, while by definition everyone in a USCF Pro I-II race is at least a 2.

If they are excluding to protect there budget, go around them.. Call or email the conference director.. Get you collegiate license.. Register solo, pay your own way, then show up and race.. Here is a link to the NCCA directors

We're definately not UF. They are the biggest team in FL. Turns out they may let me substitute for people who can't make it to certain races. I'd be happy with that for now.

I think there are at least one of the four things going on here:
-You're being a dick, and they just dont like you very much
-They're being dicks, and they just dont like you very much
-You're misunderstanding what they are saying and getting offended
-They're misunderstanding what you're saying and are getting offended

I dont think any collegiate team would intentionally exclude riders. Theres a 10 person per team per field limit if the field limit is reached in the race. that means at least 30 male riders and 20 female riders IF the field limit of the race is reached every time.

I know that at NC state, we're always trying to recruit, especially ladies. The more people, the better chance at points, and a better ability to control the fields. anyone who saw the lees-mcraie crit last year knows exactly what I'm talking about.

yeah, so none of this really makes sense....i rode for Arizona State the last two years and during that time we went from a club team to a sport team (i forget the actual word for it, but we became a registered athletic team at the school). regardless of the team's status within the school, we were also a USCF team and we did everything we could to bring in as many 'club riders' or 'racers' as we could. EVERYTHING was cheaper with more people on the team, it was easier to get sponsors, etc.... granted, our conference is pretty tiny (we're lucky to get fields of 20 at any given event) but still, there's really no reason for a collegiate team to be at all exclusive in with their membership

Ignore them. I was excluded from our college team for unknown reasons. They all graduated and moved to the local racing team (GAS) and denied me onto that team as well.

Talk about racing fuel.

I haven't been a dick to anyone, only enthusiastic about cycle racing. If they decide I can't race for them, oh well. It'll be their loss. I've been training my rear end off for this race season, and I'm probably in the best shape of my life. I trained on the race course on Sunday for the Feb 17 race with a group of CAT 1s and 2s, and they weren't able to drop me, but they sure as hell brought on some pain. I think I'll be ready to race CAT 5 just fine, college or not.
