exercise ball.

With trainers being the hot topic I figured Iíd pass along something Iíve added to my regime.

I bought an inflatable exercise ball. I ride the trainer for my half hour then do a few rounds of core strengthening exercises with the ball. Itís a novelty to me still, but itís fun enough to keep me interested (do you ever have days when you feel like a monkey?).

Iíve always neglected my core muscles even though all the books say not to. After a couple of days I can see the benefits. Even something as simple as an easy spin on the trainer feels better in the back and stomach. I feel more confidant in the saddle

Anyone use a ball? If so, what exercises do you do?

I recently joined the cult too. On weekdays that I don't get up early enough to ride I do the same thing. 15-30 on the rollers than a routine on the ball. I came across this book at the library and it has some good plans.

For me the pike is the one that kills me everytime in a good way. Also the back stretches are worth the trouble of inflating the ball alone, imho.

I mainly use mine as a chair, but it gives you a sweaty arse on warm days

Its called a fitness orb, and it completely changed my life. Forget everything you thought you knew about ab workouts. This ab workout is specifically designed to strengthen your core. Numerous health benefits: strengthens your back, better performance in sports, more enjoyable sex, etc.

Only downside is, it does not increase the opportunity for it.

I have a workout routine I do on my balance ball.

30 mins warmup on the fixie and rollers

3 x 10 one-legged squats (per leg)
3 x 10 one-legged ball lunge (per leg)
3 x 10 calf raises
3 x 10 push ups
3 x 10 tricep dips
3 x 25 ball crunches
3 x 10 back extensions
3 x 10 seated ball twist with the balance ball instead of a medicine ball
3 x 10 hip extensions
3 x 10 ball twists (pushup)

I do mine in circuits, but you can do them however you want.

Then I cool down for 30 mins on the fixie and rollers. Finish with stretching.
