T of C - Team Spotting

its that time, and sortta cool it is.
you're just rollin along and all of a sudden there's pro kit (with the legs to back it up) around you.

noted Vonikurtov's post on his extended 'tryout' for Disco during his training week in the SY valley... cool
today, I'm coming to the last leg of a ride which now takes me along the bike path from SB to Goleta Bch/UCSB. Under normal conditions the 5:00P-ish return has me passing a bunch of grimfaced commuters heading back into town and parts east. It's a fairly 'brisk' headwind, and not wanting to dog it, I'm still tryin to push a gear into that breeze. The last thing I expect to see is 'real' pro kit on our bumpy 6 ft swath of dedicated tarmac. Off down the path my bit of blurry vision is seein a large swatch of green and white heading my way. They're pullin over to make some room as they approach, in easy small ring tempo. I wave (as I do to everyone) and smile, they wave and smile back. Got this feeling I know these guyz... 10 ft after I pass them, I realize its a small group of Credit Agricole guys out for an evening spin, while slummin some time in SB before the T of C. - cool
always a surprise what I see on our MUPs these days...

anyone else have any team spottin stories?

I always like the rush of excitement when I get to the host hotel and see all the Tour vehicles in the parking lot. There's something very cool about that. Like, the first real sign that the circus is coming to town.

I just landed in LA, and I can't WAIT to get to SFO for the start.
I'll spend 10 days off my bike during a critical training month, and I don't care.
