Is there ANYTHING we can do?

Well the pi$$ing contest bewtween the UCI and the ASO (et al) continues unababted with each now threatening to deny teams' particpation in the TdF (and maybe Giro/Vuelta). Looks like they have become so embittered that a solution before the start of Paris-Nice is out of the question. Does anybody have any good ideas on what we might be able to do. Write a letter, start an online petition? Any of you that participate in other online forums see any suggestions? Seems that one of the things the organizers have forgotten all about is the fans. We need to tell them so.

Here is what I have found:

UCI/ProTour
Email: Admin@UCI.CH
Phone: +41 24 468 58 11
Mail: International Cycling Union
1860 Aigle
Switzerland
Website:ProTour

ASO
Email: perhaps aso@aso.fr?
Phone: 33 (0)1.41.33.14.00
Mail: A.S.O.
2, rue Rouget de L'Isle
92130 ISSY LES MOULINEAUX
Website: ASO Contacts

They probably won't listen to US cycling fans but if someone feels that they need to do something this is at least harmless.

Thanks. Guess it couldn't hurt to send them a plea for sanity.

Hmm, 80 views and no one else indicating that they plan to do anything. Maybe my concern is misplaced.

Armed revolution may be the only option available to the fans. For the good of the sport, I am willing to take this step.

I may be up for the armed revolution too. Still have some contacts in the Navy who might be able to put some F/A 18's over the target for us.

I'm going to start boycotting Credit Lyonnais, La Gazetta dello Sport, estaTHE, Wurth, BV, Amstel, Omloop Het Volk, Rabobank, Credit Agricole, Discovery Channel, and anyone else sponsoring a race, race leader's jersey, or team!

That'll learn 'em....

The aso@aso.fr does not work so I sent it to asopresse@aso.fr. Also sent an email to the UCI admin email address. It will be interesting to see if I get ANY response.

I dunno. Pro sports always have hiccups in their respective sanities. Strikes, disagreements, poor decisions on rules of competition, etc. If a couple races get screwed up this year, it just means I'll be a little more productive at work those days. They'll figure it out, and there will be some good races again.

My angry-mob clothes are hanging in my closet, and ready for action. Just need to shovel a path through the snow to the shed to get my pitchfork, and I'm there...

No answer from ASO or UCI today. Of course, none of us really expcected a respnse did we? We had an expression in the Navy about organizations which exist to serve a consumer (us, the fans) but do not - they only exist to serve themselves. We called them self licking ice cream cones. Maybe that's what we have with the ASO/UCI.
