The race started, I attacked 1 meter from the line. My initial impressions were pretty good. Right behind was van der Moser. We started working together
At 30 minutes we heard that we had a 30 second gap.
At 50 mins, we were told that we had 1:40 on the field
On the last lap, van der Moser tried an attack. The sprinter caught on, and I was gapped.
I waited too long.
Blew it.
Only managed 4th for the day.
In the words of Beck:
That is all.

Great report. Good job. Sounds like you have some changes already in effect to make the next time work out even better for you. Should be a great season, congrats!

In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Bleary eyed, 3 hours of sleep partially hungover from a wedding race today.
Channeled my boy. Struck the match and lit the entire box at the base of the final climb (itsy bitsy hardly can burn off a fat boy on this 30 second marvel of vertical)
1.7 miles to the finish.
I needed 20 more seconds to screw the sprint teams.
The rabbit got devoured.
12th.
At least, I've heard, I made them yell at each other.
3rd loser. Taint bad. Es Pointalonees. B B B B Botto and the Jetsssssssssssss.

Great report. Floyd would have been proud of that off the front ride fueled by beer.
Seriously, good ride and a good read.
Cheers

Great job, man.
I really think you manned up on this regardless of the outcome. So many guys throw in the towel for less pain and more on the line.
Quite an inspiration for my next race this coming Saturday.
Peace.

We can all learn from this well scripted race report if we take a moment to disect it:
Before posting the race report, Botto gave us a teaser, putting us all on the edge of our seats:
Notice how Botto set up an excuse in the first paragraph. This is a very important part of a race report that we should never neglect.
This was followed up with excellent character development. Lets face it, race reports are boring if you don't know the players.
Botto then brings us all into the story by pretending he was actually thinking about Bike Forums posts during the race.
The race is slowly unrolling before us when a humorous anecdote is inserted to keep us interested and teach us a little something about Dutch culture.
This next line expresses without a doubt that Botto was riding hard.
And finally, after giving us the results, botto quotes this self-effacing line from a pop song, to let us know that he won't let a great ride go to his head.
This is truly the best race report I have read on BF.net. Let it serve as an example of what we should strive for in a race report.
Thank you botto for the great read.

He made some small talk that was nigh impossible to understand. This was partly due to the fact that i was still groggy from my late night, partly because it was in Dutch, and partly because this is a guy of very few words, which made it all the more surprising that he was saying anything at all to me.

There's a Dutch saying "twee fingertjes in de nose", or two fingers in/up the nose. It basically means that "it's easy" On the next lap, as I rode by, I stuck two fingers up my nose.

Perdido is a Dizzy Gillespie song, among other things.
