It was an uphill sprint. I'm normally much more aero when I sprint:

Off the front solo, suffering:

Back in the field for a lap and a half to bait someone to go back out with me:

Score!

Gave the fist pump at the end taking second, knowing I didn't win but I wrapped up upgrade points. Made all the suffering worth it.

Lower Providence Crit. I'm actually attacking! Didn't work, but the looks of pain on some of the faces behind me is great.

Poor quality pic, but that's me mid-pack in the last few laps of a cat 4/5 race back in '03.

Good try!

Also, looks like you need a tighter fitting jersey and undershirt.

Yeah, that's my winter jacket, which is a little big. I've been choosing to race with that and a sleeveless baselayer on colder, windy races. I hope to be down to my better-fitting jerseys soon.

It was surprisingly chilly that morning lol

Nice attack, hurley girl. I saw a little bit of your race after the 5s and the pace looked good.

After the bonk... it was about 45* out yesterday and I'm racing in a jersey, shorts and a mesh base layer. As soon as I stopped I started shaking from the cold and lack of gas in my tank.

Crash. Stop racing. Start building again, and get healthy first. You're just going to burn out doing what you're doing. Do training crits and such if you want, but really you're in this for the long term man!

For all you that weren't there - seriously, no kidding, none of this is an exaggeration in the slightest
Yup, the race lived up to its name and then some… it was a heck of a way to start my racing career. Glad there was someone else here to confirm the misery.

did you race ToWW? I loved, LOVED both stage races, I'll be back to play again next year at both. Keep after it, the positioning and effort-metering stuff gets much easier with a bit of experience.
