It's a good move, especially when they're team socks.

The following are me suffering in the Tour of KC cliff drive classic course. The first is on a quick but pretty brutal climb that averages about 13% grade. The second is right before the finish. My form is majorly lacking due to little training this season but still a fun race!

Although I suffer I still maintain a proper "teacup" grip on my brake hoods and keep pedaling through the corners.

At the finish line I got 6th.

you would probably have finished higher if you rode in the drops.

But how does he ride in the drops with his bars turned up? When are these guys going to learn to level out those bars, so they can actually use them?

I had to smile when I read that. Yes I wish it was true.

My photo was taken 200 yards past the start/finish line after sprinting for a preem (which I missed by a wheel length). So that's why I was suffering... I am thinking to myself, $#!@... now I'm going to have to try and finish well in this race! I wanted to impress my dad who had come to watch. In the photo I'm still recovering and getting ready to be reabsorbed by the pack.

PS. I think it's just the angle that makes the bars look like they're not flat. They're actually parallel with the top tube. Or maybe I adjusted the bars since then.

18% grade = ouch. I carried the Lantern Rouge for the men's Cat 5. But it was still fun. TT up a 1 mile hill...

I'm in the white helmet on the left.

After getting shelled.

These were at the Tour de Soulard, which was the most technical and most difficult race I've done yet. 11 turns through the Soulard district in St. Louis, with no real chances to recover.

TX state TTT champs. We got 10/13 in the Cat 3s with three cat 5s on the team (two on a one-day). I was in a world of hurt in this photo about 2 miles from the finish. Note my brother-in-law's Deep Vs match mine -- I built all four

EDIT: also, one of our riders flatted out at mile 6 -- so this is just the remaining 3 of us suffering along.

WR, on the results page, it seems that one of the teams was comprised of one rider who did fairly well. Can you confirm this?

edit to add -- I appreciate you team name as well. I noticed it when I looked up the results a few weeks ago. Didn't realize that was your team.

I don't think I understand. Like there's a result that just has one rider? I'm not seeing any: http://www.southernelite.org/STATETT/TTT2007Results.htm

Thanks on the team name. Our guy who flatted thought that one up. At least he was able to contribute after the flat

Look at team solar eclipse. The same name appears in all 4 rider positions. I believe that indicates he rode solo, but wanted to confirm.

That is strange. It even shows up that way in the start times. Solar Eclipse has a huge team -- no need to go solo with them!

I'm sure it's just someone goofed up on the BikeReg signup and it came through that way. He may have registered, then found people to ride on his team later or something.
