Thanks Ohmannuel, it was a mixed bag. The race was just a 'B' race so I went in every break, to no avail. But a great workout.

Denton, NC (Masters 35+)
After lapping the field in 20mins with 4 others, I moved back to the front to see if I could attack again. No one let me go.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(NEW KIT ALERT!! Very nice stuff whether or not you like the colors. A lot more comfortable. Better fit.)
Dilworth, Charlotte, NC (Masters 35+, Cat2/3)
I had nothing in the races. I attacked and tried several times to get in breaks. Nothing stayed away and I wasted all my matches.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sanford, NC (Masters 40+, P/1/2/3)
Me and the other old guy, Dave LeDuc (Cycling: 2001 World RR Champion; 15 Time National Champion; 2003 U.S. national criterium champion, Pan American Masters RR, Criterium and Points Race Champion.) got away but eventually got caught with 6 laps left.
The Pro-Am race was a nut-buster. Single-file most of the race for 70 minutes. Every time I moved up it looked like more guys joined the race. We were doing 30mph most of the time (Averaged 28). I was cursing my parents and the day I was born from the first lap on.

Thanks, FB. Here's a couple more.
Tour de Moore, Southern Pines, NC (Masters 40+)
Attacked, covered several attacks, bridged to others. I stayed very aggressive because normally, in this race, they stay away. This day - nothing happening. Then on the final turn to the sprint I was way out of position to contend.
My racing has not been very productive as of late. The past several weeks have sucked. So I'm taking several weeks off from racing and enjoying the bike for a while.

Dude, you've been strong and aggressive this season. It's really impressive!
Define productive...
Dude, you have the blade of the knife all sharpened and you're working on making things happen. A break doesn't go away all the time but when it does chances are you'll be in it.
You lapped the freaking field. How the heck is that not productive?

I'm very aggressive and the others are noticing. Most of the time when I attack or chase, others will go with me now knowing that I can stay away.
I'm very happy with what's going on. I just need some time off for a few so I can get my head back in it.
edit: By the way, most of these races I've been able to help set up so my fees are comped and it's really helped out. That's why when I pay for a race I really want to try and make most of it back. Things are still pretty tight at home. I've sold off most of my extra stuff so I could get new shoes and pay for races.
BUT!! Good news is; my marriage is on the right track and that's the most important thing in my life right now. My wife even surprised me at Dilworth by showing up unannounced with the family. I was grinning like a kid who found out he was going to Disney World.

The first few months I've come home with money in every race. Nothing now. But it's all good.

Glad to hear it subby. You're keeping things in perspective which is great. I'm really happy to see that the effort that you've been putting in on the family front have been paying dividends.

Yep... that was me. I'm just taking it easy in those pics. That was early on. The suffering didn't come until later... and really the last lap when my legs decided to protest.

Finally. A picture of me racing. From the Harpeth Bicycles Criterium of Brentwood (My team's race). I've been told my suffer face looks just like my regular face. Make no mistake, I'm suffering here. Wish I could say I was OTF or chasing down a break or something like that. But alas, I'm OTB working my arse off to make sure I don't get lapped. I succeeded and I hurt.

Subby, glad to hear the good news.
And I've seen you race a few times - I'm on Triangle Velo - you can see one of my teammates in the background of your photos from Sanford.
BTW, at Rock Hill, they started the Cat 4 and Masters 45+ together for the RR. I was sitting behind LeDuc for awhile. That guy is a beast.

I'm failing to see the fail. You aren't towing the pack, so you have by definition broken away, and you...look...fantastic. Really, I'd kill to look that good on a bike. I know you'd like to have had a break stick, but cut yourself some slack.
PS: I'd love to see you win off a solo break. No pressure.
