Lots of sympathy crashing going on there, ford.
--------------------------------------------

Shovel's pics are what we all want, but very, very few are willing to do what it takes to do get. Honestly, I don't know if I have that in me. Forget the actual effort in that single race. The shear number of break attempts that it takes to get in that situation or the number of intervals it took sustain it is numbing. It makes pulling it off all that much sweeter.

Man. So much rear brake in that corner. People were sliding out for a crash that wasn't coming for another 15 meters.

As Mr. broken fork was heading off the road, he has his rear lever pulled the whole time. Can't stop, can't turn. Gah.

Nice work and good idea being out front. i assume with the photographer there it is usually a dangerous corner?

notice how almost everyone with fingers on the brakes in that corner ended up on the floor.

It's important to note that almost everyone grabbing rear brake ended up on the floor.

In contrast, notice this guy who finished upright, he's grabbed his front brake so hard that it's smoking... and he didn't crash. I swear they should outlaw rear brakes.

ha. didn't see that frame. a quick scan showed a bunch of guys sliding out with a fist full of rear break and others navigating thru w/o braking. I've lots good bit of skin because of people grabbing the rear brake in corners.. aggravating.

That's called a sympathy crash. It's one of those, "You're crashing? What the hell, I'll crash, too, so you don't feel so bad!"

its called 'target fixation'...we saw this all the time in the amateur ranks of m/c racing. See someone crash in front of you and slide off the track, and if youre close behind them, just following them...

2) That's a fact, jack.

For me crash pics aren't at all entertaining, just stir up some not so great memories.

"slide out in a turn" crashes are among the most annoying... since, clearly, it's possible to get through at high speed without sliding in this case...

yet another reason that being alone way off the front is the best way to take the last turn!
