FYI - not a pic, but there's some suffering near the end as they try to catch us . I make an appearance around 2:38 on the right in a white/green jersey.

last week i was 8th out of 40+ riders in a difficult climbing race, but there are no pictures.

this week i immigrated to Offthebackistan for most of my race, but there's a photo

My back doesn't look nearly as flat as i imagined, but i think i may be because i was sprinting out of the corner and just settling back into an TT position.

Photo credit to Rachel Kurchin of the Yale team

But if you're otb, does it really matter how flat your back is?

Here's my pic from Saturday; please ignore the guy winning the bike race.. I'm busy getting 2nd!! Bad positioning in the final corner earned me the title of 1st loser.. maybe next time I can do it right, I'd like to win again before exiting the Ultimate Cat.

the gap stayed constant while i was chasing, so i guess it does matter

when i was drained enough, i pulled out of the race

Team trend of second on Saturday.

Pain Face sprinting for second.

Later on, doing something silly and going for a prime. This is at the top of the power hill, so plenty of suffering.

That is the plan. Fwiw, the reason I have not upgraded yet is because of a big stage race in a few weeks that I've already signed up for as a 3, and I want to be able to finish the whole thing. The time-cut for the 1/2's was 21:30 in the TT last year, whereas my best TT ever there is like 23:30 (I suck at TTs!).

Also I wouldn't mind winning that stage race crit.. not that I won't try as a 2, but it'll be more realistic in the short term as a 3. Yup, I'm a sandbagger! =]

So anyway the point is that I want to get in the full (Tour of Walla Walla) stage race experience before I upgrade. It will change stage races for me (read: shorten them!) unless I can learn how to TT.. ugh, I hate TTs!

I guess my point was that your back looks plenty flat in that pic, I don't think it would've made the difference between bridging back up or not. I think the best approach is to stay in the pack and not get dropped in the first place. =]

A prime you won no less!! Nice job out there man, hope you can make it to the 3's before I go.

That actually looks like Huasna, near Arroyo Grande/San Luis Obispo. I should know since I rode around there almost every day when I went to school down there.

All photos are credited to Ms. Jan Polk, who was very generous with her time and her photos.

Climber7 & I doing our best impressions of Oscar Freire (who probably lost 1-2 seconds today due to looking back 10-12 times in his suicide break)

You know you are hurting when your head drops

ha. i was just trying to make sure i didn't drop you two slowpokes so we could keep the break going but it is pretty funny how we're all looking in different directions.

are there more photos, and are they accessible anywhere?

On the far left. Hillsboro Roubaix, Cat 3. Second to last turn on wet bricks after a fast and sketchy decent as evidenced by the three blurry riders in the background.

Photo credit to Elizabeth Rangel, who braved a NASTY day and got some great shots; thanks Elizabeth.
