Sweet, can't wait for the road race video. You guys were hauling ass, I think my fastest lap in my race was 2:00, you guys must have been hitting 1:50. Also, a friend of mine was taking pics of the ITT and got a good one of either you or your teammate-

oh sweet, that's my teammate Drew. he came out a couple days early and did the ITT, the rest of us got in Friday evening. Road race is uploading now. should be ready by the morning or afternoon. I got popped the third time up Libby Hill, got to the top and looked behind and all I saw was follow cars. I knew I was going to get popped eventually so I tried to stay active near the front and get some good footage.

looking at my strava for the crit, my fastest lap was also actually 2:00. slowest lap before I got dropped was 2:11, most of them around 2:05. some of my other friends/teammates got down to a 1:51/1:53, they finished in the main group so it was probably the last couple laps.

my fastest road race lap was 22:04

Here's me making a suffer face and showcasing leg hair in all its glory, I'm chasing one of the guys on my collegiate team in the 3/4 race Saturday.

Great job to all the collegiate racers, thanks for sharing info on this years races. Those huge fields are so hard to race in.

Reminds me of the Good Old Days (tm) when we did 50 mile criteriums with 200 riders.

Are there any books about the Good Old Days of US crit racing? Jersey pulling, 50 mile crits, the old cat 1/2 system, etc.

If not I think you should write one. Seriously, I'd buy it!

i originally told myself that i wouldn't shave until i get 15 points for my cat-2 upgrade. that was before i met my better half. i broached the issue once and she wasn't receptive to the idea.

Same, except my wife actually told me to shave recently so my teammates would stop laughing at me. It'd be easier if my damn hair wasn't so dark...

My wife would hate it, but isn't worried considering (A) how anti-conformist I am, (B) how often I've mentioned how silly it is, and (C) I'm too lazy to shave my face more than twice a week.

I find rubbing sunscreen or embro into leg hair really disgusting, even on my own legs.

I'm more excited than ever that we will be hosting the worlds next year, and I'm really hoping that they'll find time to fit in open fields on the crit circuit or road race next year. We definitely lucked out with the weather, you can see in Zitter's videos that it was perfect all 3 days minus a stiff breeze on Sunday.

217 warning: i wonder how the race next year would turn out; hopefully not like Copenhagen in 2011 as i would really dread paying for 2 nights of hotel just to see a large group gallop. The course doesn't seem that selective, but it is also a bit more technical. Perhaps a 15-25 person sprint like the one we saw in MSR this year or in Geelong in 2011...

Jamie's book touches on some of it. So does Tilford's blog. It was so long ago and I had such a huge gap between racing periods I'd need help. Talking with my ex-teammate last Sunday brought back a lot of memories. If I had help from others it could be possible. When I retire.

If anybody is planning on travelling and staying in town for world's next year in Richmond, our host for nationals said they might be renting a room or 2 for the weekend. They're about 4 miles to the start/finish, we rode from there each day to the course

I talked to a guy recently who said he rode against the Coors Light team back in the day, and how different things were.

Got me more interested in the olden days of US racing. Start writing down notes, collaborating with your buddies, and start that book man!

Hell even if it's just an essay that's not formally published, it'd be a great read.

I would love to read about the old days as well. I always loved it when the pros would come do the tour of willamette ... and then the two years I was finally able to ride it with them (I say loosely) before the race went away.

Here is the final sprint from our race last night, I was able to hold on for the final sprint win, but 3rd on the night with all the points added up. So awesome that nearly every race we do in Oregon seems to have a professional photographer at the event, that was never the case 10+ years ago. Thanks to Leonard at Hotfootphoto again.

Getting caught from a failed break at our "Koppenberg." I'm the fool smiling in the green.
https://jmfloraphotography.smugmug.co...14/i-SPRt5M6/A

Obviously much thanks to John Flora Photography. I'm contemplating coughing up the 10.00 for a 1 megapixal print just b/c I'm smiling on a 17% dirt pitch.
Maybe if I can win a prime or two this weekend. Common primes, daddy needs some new socks and a picture.
