I have round bars and sweaty skin turning virgin bar tape into a skating rink ranks much higher than pain. I say that knowing the roads are complete crap here which assures it isn't ever a comfortable position.

Not that you would but the fix for that is sleeves/sun sleeves and lizard tape. If that doesn't do it ... Formed hard foam under the sleeves, sandpaper over padding, stair anti-slip rubber all have been used. And then there is 77.

Getting ready to take a pull, team pursuit at Track Nats. We missed the jersey by 1 second. I could clog up an industrial magnetic crane with the steak knives I've gotten in this event.

(prefacing this with a "youre a much better rider than I am.. yada, yada")

I've heard before that they sometimes allow and sometimes don't allow shoe covers for nats on the track. I see it's 50/50 on your squad. I imagine putting everyone in shoe covers would have dropped a bit of time.

And I'm not familiar with that saying in your last sentence.. Literally never heard it and google brough me to a "bladeforums." I'll stick to my hobby.

Glengarry Glen Ross. Sales speach. First place is a Caddy. Second place is steak knives. Third place is you're fired.

Actually tested out the covers on the lace ups, with and without the trip socks (you thought they were athletic socks, admit it). Trip socks without were identical to trip socks with. Given it was 100 degrees, I figured I'd go without.

Different numbers if I was using strap, buckle, or boa shoes. As far as my teammate who had boa shoes without...he likes cool feet

Somebody told me they're allowed outdoors, but not on indoor tracks. Pretty silly, if true.

Hey did you know that scene, and the entire Alec Baldwin character, is not in the play that the movie is based on? The producers were having trouble financing the movie and asked David Mamet (who wrote the play & movie) to write in a cameo specifically for Alec Baldwin, in order to increase the marketability of the film and lure in more investors.

Think about the rest of the cast and imagine a time in history where Alec Baldwin is the superstar cameo in that movie.

And how ironic is it that the character was created literally to sell the movie to investors? Mamet must have loved that.

And comes up with the most memorable scene in the movie. Great piece of dialogue.

Didn't know that, hadn't seen the play.

Have your teammates all done aero-testing? I notice you are the only one with a hand-up arm position, which should in theory be faster. At least one second faster....

Those shoes look really fast.

I recently - within the last week or so - read an article about a bunch of young Wall Street bros going to see the play just for the Alec Baldwin scene - apparently many of them have memorized the lines and see it as something to aspire to, much like Gordon Gecko, prior to the sequel.

They all left the play rather peeved.

At the same time, while I haven't seen the play, I hear it makes for incredible drama how the threat remains an unnamed (even in the movie) and unseen component.

I read the same article. The irony just kept going deeper and deeper...

Last Rockleigh last night. Big field, 61 guys. Fastest race I've ever done .. close to 28 mph. Lots of riding in the grass whenever the field would fan out. Photos by Bicycle Racing Pictures.

From last weekend, me winning Suisun Harbor P/1/2 - about to cross the line.

The suffering was real. But all worth it, and washes away once you cross the line in 1st place.

my tt pics. power was good. weight was not. I am an OK climber, OK tt rider. Bad tt climber.

my merckx time, on the 2nd run, was 1 minute slower over the 11 miles.

I find TT to be, by far, the most frustrating discipline for me. I basically leave every race pissed and looking to spend money on some magic equipment.

All photos from Katie Truong.

Ha thanks.

My only regret was not doing a full victory salute; but I didn't want to look back until I crossed the line, and it was super gusty. Nobody wants to be That Guy.
