Hehe... not me! I can count on one hand the times I've ridden over 50 miles this spring. I opted out of the Jeff cup. I think I'll just go ride with the fast kids tomorrow, where I can get dropped for free with a lot less driving.

It's looking like it'll be a great showing again for Route 1/Capitol Hill Bikes, though. Our RR specialists have been licking their chops for this one, and the turnout looks big. 7 cat 5's and 13 cat 4's.

Lots of hills, long road race, it's perfect for me. I'm going for a win.

I'm not sure which race you are doing, but the longest race tomorrow is 70 miles....not particularly long.

Regardless, good luck.

Yup. Hopefully the turnout will be better than in the 20-degree weather.

I wouldnt characterize Jeff Cup as hilly, more like rolling. The profile is deceptive. Aside from the elite races (M&W P/1/2/3), it almost always ends up in a field sprint. Finish is "false flat" - be in bottom top 10 position in the last turn before the finish (just over 1 K to go at that point), stay middle to right side, you can get pinched on the left, and you'll be golden.

if that's the case, then the profile is deceptive. Boo hoo. I'll play it by ear, but if it looks like it's gonna end in a bunch sprint I think I'll be ok.

Always good to check the elevation profile's scale. If done properly, you can make a crit look like a mountain stage in the TdF.

dont know what category you race, but considering most p/1/2/3 races in the mid atlantic max out at 70ish miles, I'd say that 70 mi. is a long race.

You're right. It's a "long" race compared to other local stuff, but compared to what qualifies as a long race in the rest of the world, it's certainly not.

Nice to meet you too ng. I do most racing in NC but try to get to the Reston Town Center Crit and the Commonwealth Games in Roanoke since it's local. I may try the Poolsville race this year too, though that may conflict, but I heard it's a cool race.

My team mate and I were chopped pretty bad by some overzealous sprinter. He was almost sent into a row of cars and I had to run up on a bit of gravel to get 16th place.

It got real tight in the last kilometer or so.

Do come out for Poolesville if you can. It's even more pretty a ride than yesterday's route. The trees create a sort of natural amphitheater for portions of the course, and the gravel section is mad fun for the bike handlers (and hugely frustrating for others)
