Anyone doing any road races in Ohio this weekend?
I'll be at Lucas, Ohio for a road race on Saturday and Lynchburg, Ohio for a road race on Sunday. Time to see how the legs will do two days in a row. All in all I get to drive a grand total of 690 miles this weekend.
Anyone else planning on being at either one?

690 miles? OK, you're making me feel really lame for hemming and hawing about Lynchburg on account of it's being 80 miles from my home.
I'll probably be there, racing cat 3s. I hear it's flat, and flat is good for me.

Yes, Lynchburg is very flat, but can get windy too. Last year there was a big commotion because there is nowhere to sit/park/watch for the spectators. The owner of the barn at the S/F called the cops and everyone had to move back and forth. Just a heads up if you are planning on having guests.
It may be a big PITA.

According to the website the Lynchburg course has changed but it is still supposed to be flat.

The Lynchburg course is on the opposite side of town this year. So far, they've been doing a decent job of addressing the problems that plagued some of the races last year. So I am hoping that will extend to this race and that the organizational issues will be better than last year.

Okay, that's good. At least they're being proactive. The race itslef was fine, but it just sucked for the viewers.

I plan to be there for the cat. 5, instead of just photographing the races like I've been doing lately.

Damnit! I was going to go, and then the car's "check engine" light came on this afternoon. So unless I can drum up a ride by tomorrow morning (anybody passing near Oxford, OH?) I'm out. Good luck to all at Lynchburg.

How did your Ohio races go?
I got 3rd in a local TT (5th overall). DNF at Lynchburg - rain+curves+seeing a team mate lying on the ground=freakout. Rode by myself for a couple more laps and rode next to Lowcel for a few minutes when their group passed me (I recognized his Fuji).

I've got to get more aggressive!
Congratulations on the time trial!

I got 8th at Lynchburg. I was working for a teammate who ended up having trouble so I was on my own at the end and didn't have enough juice to sprint into a headwind. I passed Bruce during the sprint (recognized the bike). I looked for you after the race, Bruce, but you had aleady left.
Allen Morris is ridiculous this year. That's some serious progress.
curveship, Dan cramped right as the sprint started, sorry his wheel let you down.
We also passed Dave after the wreck. I'm very glad to hear that he's OK. He's a good guy. We did a lot of rides with him last year and worked with him in some races when he was still a 4.

Allen is amazing, and so is his sister Michelle. She won her second race ever at Hueston Woods. There's some good genes running through that family. It seems like the young'uns are either very good or very bad. But even if they're very bad they can improve in no time, and before you know it they're winning races. It's quite a sight.
Oh yeah, I came in last in the cat. 5. *sigh*
