sick, rainy, kid on the way.... blah, blah, blah

Sorry for another one of those threads, but I need to semi rant...

We've been warmer than most in Oregon this spring, but the combination of my first cold in a few years, copious weekend rain, home improvements, and a kid on the way, my riding 'taint going well this year.

It sunk in last week when a healthy me was dropped on the team ride by guys who were leading me out at PIR and crits last year.

Here's to hoping warm April/May weather turns things around for me!

Two solid weeks of training would bring you right back to .... never mind. You aren't going to see two solid weeks for a while.

But just know that you're not in as deep of a hole as you think you are.
But hear this: watch what you eat!

ES speaks the truth. I got a late start to early season training due to an injury and suffered in my first race getting dropped on the final lap of a road race. Since then I've gotten two top tens. It comes back fast when you get a chance to be consistent.

Hey Masher,
Congratulations! Fatherhood is an awesome thing.
Just ended my 4 years as a stay at home Dad, best years of my life.
As for the rest I am sure you will be back in no time.
Last week PIR 4/5 was pretty easy, nothing like last year.
I decided to not ride this weekend too, between the weather and the things to do I never got around to it. Season is long so is good to not burn yourself.
See you soon at the races.
Ciao
Paolo

Congrats on the impending fatherhood. Your free time will plunge, but if you make an effort, you can still get in enough riding to race well.

Good luck.

My daughter turned one in December. I'm looking forward to putting her in the bike trailer a LOT this year. Call it strength training.

The first year (when your kid is too small to put in a trailer) will absolutely flash by.
