Saturday = high traffick day. It's possible the server can't handle the bandwidth requirements.

It's also the connection type the feed is on. I think they're using satellite.

Poor web coverage

I've been following the official web site and TourTracker all week and I can safely say, The Tour de Georgia web coverage has been a big disappointment. For me, I rarely received audio or live video (commercials don't count). The organizers have been behind on this event all along and I don' think they had the time and resources to pull off live video coverage. The logistics of running big races is their specialty... not the technology. Honestly, anyone on a scooter with a Crackberry programmed to relay burst mode images could have provided better live "video" coverage. And what happened to the nightly video recaps promised for each evening?

As far as their web site, I earlier documented the mistakes:
http://www.steephill.tv/2007/tour-de...-site-problems

All links to the official site have been invalid for days and on days 3 and 4 you couldn't access any information when visiting tourdegeorgia.com during the race. They still haven't totally fixed the problems. I've since downloaded, with permission, all the necessary PDFs to my site, but other sites haven't. Here's an example of a link to today's stage map that isn't forwarded correctly to the new site slapped together mid-race:
http://www.tourdegeorgia.com/pdf/07TdGStage6Map.pdf

If they can't even host web pages smoothly then...

Btw, steephill, your site has been a great help to us who need the info.

Another example of an organizational glitch: the only reference I saw to a noon start today was the timetable pdf. All other references were to a 11am start. The Georgia State Patrol in Buford knew the start was noon, but the course workers at Stone Mountain Park didn't! They thought everything was running late.

The organization shouldn't be hosting web pages at all. They need to pay someone who does it professionally.
