DC Area Racing Forum Group Ride?

There are so many active riders/racers on the Racing Forum from the DC area that we should try to do a DC group ride sometime. Perhaps a recovery paced ride on a Thursday or Friday afternoon in the summer so as not to interfere with racing that weekend. Followed perhaps by beers.

Or maybe that would ruin it?

Just throwing it out there.

If we do it, Dr. Pete would have to be the ride leader....

I'd be totally down with that. There's good after-work riding in my neck of the woods (College Park/Beltsville) or we could do something else... I think it would be a blast!

OK.. If Dr. P helps organize and leads the ride, I will buy the beer afterwards.

We need riskus, MDCatV, and who else am I missing?

riskus, what's a better day?

I know Sunday is my usual team ride, as it is for Coppi, so Saturday could work. That would interfere, though, with those doing the 7AM ride...

I live in Baltimore, But I would drive down to be with this crowd. Also before DC/Balto races we should try to meet. I know some of us were at Carl Dolan yesterday, it would have been fun to say Hi.

There's a lot of great riding in the Beltsville agricultural center, but it's far enough away from greenbelt park to not really be practical... The area around the park has a lot of traffic and not much scenery that time of day.

I'll be sure to ease up, though, because now that I have my new wing-style bars I'm going to be at least 3mph faster.

Weren't you making fun of wing-style bars just a few months back? Be honest or I might just have to do a search. (First it's the PowerTap, now wing bars... You're one of those guys who has to hate on something first before you can justify it. I see Zipps in your future.)

I was hatin' on the CF wing bars a while back, but it was more about CF bars in general.

Replacing my bars today cost me less than $60. That would not have been the case with the same-level CF bars... If you like 'em, ride the hell out of 'em!

Theoretically I'm in, but with a newborn at home, it's tough for me to get out on weekdays, and if not racing, I generally ride from home either to the 7 a.m. on saturdays or out in the poolesville area on sundays. Keep me in mind and hopefully I can join up with you all.

Zimbo - what are you doing racing against Magnus Backstedt? That guy to your right is huge!

I'll be in and out this summer, but if I'm around, I'm down. Just give me a cue sheet so I can find my way when I get dropped.
