A Capitol Hill Bikes employee rockin' on in the Tour of Virginia!

Russ Langley, great guy and employee of the shop that sponsors us, is currently in the leader's jersey of the tour of Virginia, after averaging 30.5 (correction) mph in the Prologue TT. Holy hell, that's fast. He managed a pack finish in the crit (18th) to hang on to the jersey for one more day...

GO RUSS!!! WOOHOO!

We haven't had a big elite squad for a while. This year we have 4 cat 1's, but that's a new thing. I guess he needed more of a team to be successful... Hard to be competitive against pro squads if you're flying solo.

i'm gonna have to call shenanigans on the speed. unless he had a substantial tailwind, they must have shortened the course. sub 4 minutes in the 4000m pursuit is a rarity even at the olympic level in track cycling.

still that is a pretty impressive. the pic is pretty cool. that dude's left leg is stronger than both my legs and arms combined.

I don't know, I could do 37mph average. Of course, it would have to be about 200 meters long, and give me a flying start, and a tailwind. (ok and maybe a tad downhill).

There could have been a tailwind. The CN story doesn't indicate anything regarding conditions.

Neither did I when I first met him--just a really nice, soft-spoken guy at the shop. Turns out he's a freakin' hammerhead extraordinaire.

Pretty cool to see both a current and former MWCCC guy in the top 15. Represent the midwest!

The site race manual shows the course as 4.1 miles, not 8km, still about 30.5 mph

This page says the prologue was 5mi http://tourofvirginia.com/stages.php
This page says the prologue was 5.6mi http://tourofvirginia.com/Courses/Stage%201%20Map.pdf

And the site race manual says it was 4.1 miles. whats goin on???

My boy guptil is sittin pretty at 106th place, which is okay, since he's a self described crappy TTer. He's a beast on climbs, so I'm hopin he does some damage in the mountains

Still extremely impressive. Just not faster than any prologue or TTstage in the history of the TDF.

The there and back on gmap-pedometer:

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=895521

Clip a little off on either end for start/finish areas, but you're still at 5 miles. Wonder what the course actually ended up looking like.

Looks like that stage really shook things up for all the flatlanders.
