TT on Sunday. Advice for Saturday.

Doing my first sanctioned event of the year on Sunday. Will be a TT in the morning and crit in the afternoon. I'm Cat 3, my training has been pretty strong this year. Been following a block scheme: 3 days on, 2 days RR, group ride, then off.

Training caught up with me earlier this week and I was flat so I took a rest week. Here's what I've done:

Monday - RR - 2 hours
Tuesday - off
Wednesday - Club Race (3 hours total with ride out and back)
Thursday - 2 hours with 30 minute threshold interval
Friday - off
Saturday - ???

I am feeling really good right now, really recovered compared to earlier in the week. My coach advises to do a group ride Saturday (hence to treat Sunday like training); however, it is a sancitoned event and I want to do well in the TT in particular.

I had thought of doing a 1 hour ride tomorrow early on the TT bike, with about 10 minutes threshold and 4 or 5 minutes VO2.

Thoughts?

Well if you want to do well on sunday, I would not ride with a group on saturday, unless they are racing sunday as well. I would be too tempted to go too hard. I would do what you suggested perhaps a little longer though, say 1 1/2 or maybe 2 hours. I'd ride early and easy for most of the ride.

Good luck.
