Racing terminology question

So I saw my first bike race in person yesterday, part of the Tour of Virginia in Harrisonburg. Kayle Leogrande came in first but shortly that was negated because he was "put to last place in the field for not holding his line in final sprint". What does that mean? I know what going to last means haha I just don't understand the holding his line part. Like I said, it was the first race I've ever seen, so my apologies if it's a stupid question.

In a sprint, lateral movement can be dangerous. If a judge deems a sprinter to have made an unnecessarily dangerous move, he will be relegated to the back of whatever pack he was in.

In a nutshell, its a safety issue. If a rider gets squirrelly in a bunch sprint, trying to find an advantageous line, he can bring a bunch of riders down. Being relegated to last place is the punishment. That being said, the judges do allow a bit of leeway.

When racers are sprinting for the finish line they are required to ride in a manner that does not impede any other riders' attempt to overtake them. So, for example, if a racer is being passed by another and abruptly moves to block the other rider, it could result in relegation (being placed at the back of the results). This could be deemed "foul riding" an "abrupt motion" or "dangerous riding" under the rules.
