TT bike porn build

So, a good friend and teammate is building up a full SRAM endowed BMC TT01. I thought that maybe some of you would be interested. The diary is found here. Hope you enjoy.

Wow, that's a beautiful machine.

patentcad 05-07-07 08:19 PM

Sorry Doc.

TT bikes are just usually pretty ugly. But they are fast. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm leaning towards the lower line Cdale Six13 Slice with Ultegra, I'll throw the Zipps on and it's off to the races. But I don't think they can ever get me to wear one of those friggin TT helmets. Those are uglier still.

What's your set-up Doc? You're one of the faster guys in NJ. Hoping to meet you @ some future TT. Maybe @ next year's High Point event? I may also be @ the Silvermine TT in Harriman in Sept.

Namenda 05-07-07 08:29 PM

BMC makes a gorgeous TT frame. Super bike your friend has there.

You've hit critical mass with the @ assault, pcad.

Road bikes are like plain old "regular" sex. But TT bikes are like sex with a yoga instructor (you know the girl I'm talkin about) on the hood of a Porsche Turbo. They're just THAT much more awesome, and THAT much sexier.

Those look like the hot-off-the-press bar end shifters from SRAM??? But darnit, subtract style points for the wheel mismatch...

See you at Silvermine then! My set up is Cervelo P3C, Fir Killling system Disc rear Zipp 404 front, Full DA with 54/39 SRM and Bell Meteor II TT helmet. And then there is the engine...

I know that route very well, I train over there regularly, it's only about 20 miles from my home. Long gradual upgrades, very fast long downgrade sections. If the wind is hammering out of the west that day it could be even tougher.

Yeah, he is the only rider outside of the PT who has the SRAM shifters. Pretty wild. For the TTs he will use a Z999 setup. Those are just training wheels. :) I think he is still waiting on the carbon water bottle. Click on the link to see close ups of EVERYTHING.

Oh, and trust me, not yoga instructor. Ballet Dancer. Speaking from experience. Just not on a porche turbo. :)

voltman 05-07-07 09:52 PM

Nice! Where did he go to get measurements taken for the frame?

bodaciousguy 05-08-07 03:36 AM

You know, there are poor Belgian farm boys riding and racing on 30 pound bikes while you are polishing your TT bike. You should be ashamed.

ElJamoquio 05-08-07 04:56 AM

I think TT bikes are some of the best-looking around. This is one of them. Purty.

Grasschopper 05-08-07 05:34 AM

Why did he cheap out on the.....err I mean the....um...yea...

Pft the wheels don't even match...:D

GuitarWizard 05-08-07 05:52 AM

That bike probably cost as much as my VW Jetta GLI.

i love how botto's parlance has been assimilated into the forums.

Pretty sweet rig. It would be interesting to know the end cost in total, but I won't pry (much). Probably the only thing I would change would be to put Vision Tech's Trimax carbon bars on it. Other than that, schwing!

GuitarWizard 05-08-07 06:37 AM

Ummm...let's see....

Using retail pricing, which I'm sure the dude probably didn't pay...

Frame: $12,500
SRM: $3,400
SRAM Force groupset: $1,100
Zipp 808 + Rolf Carbon wheels: $2,000

Ummm....yeah. Must be nice to be rich.

markman 05-08-07 07:05 AM

From clicking on his firm's webpage link he is probably doing pretty well cashwise. Lots O'money in that business if you do things right.

He has built an absolutely fantastic bike. Good luck to him. Let's hope he is at least semi-fast enough to do the bike proud:)

jrennie 05-08-07 07:44 AM

DrWJODonnell-Watts up with this build, I was looking at the parts description and vendors "wanting in" on the build, who is the rider or purpose of the bike to demand such prestige? My keybord is starting to cease function from drool, I love that frame.

Also need pics of this part:
4. wheels - here, Zipp also wanted on this bike, and is getting me at a great great (though still very expensive) price a pair of Zedtech Ceramic Z999 wheels. custom white/black decals, ceramic Level1 bearings, smoke nipples. fthe zedtech hubs supposedly are have pock and dimples all over them to help air flow. they look narly. fast.

DrWJODonnell 05-08-07 07:51 AM

yeah, I can't wait to see the Zipps when they arrive on this thing. It's going to be sweet. I think the bike will make it's debut this weekend on a course that I should be able to mash. Unfotunately I will be landing at JFK while this bike gets to take all of the glory!

As for the Bars, they are about 400 grams (read 1 lb) lighter than any other bar on the market. He wasn't going to use anything but. I have thought about getting myself a set actually.

as for the measurements, they were taken directly from his P3C fit. No changes.

As for the speed, I have nipped him in every TT this year, but not by much. He is fast.

As far as prestige, he is just a TT fanatic with a bit o' cash to spare. He is digging the SRAM stuff, and so called them up and told them about the bike build. He actually almost finagled a SRAM SRM, but it won't be in production in time.

bdcheung 05-08-07 07:56 AM

Great bike, but the pics in the diary leave much to be desired. At least I'm better than him in one regard ;)
