Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels

Anyone know anything about these wheels? I've heard good and bad things about it. I'm looking for a good priced race wheel upgrading from the Shimano R500 that came stock on my Felt f75. Any other suggestions for a medium profile in the 400-600 dollar range?

Also anybody know about the Reynolds Solitude?

Great, bulletproof wheels from Mavic. I have some Equipes (a step up from the Elites) that are a few years old that I'll sell you cheap...

I've got some Cosmic Elites and love 'em. They're not exactly "lightweight" by overpriced, lightweight racing wheel standards, but they're light enough, considering the price, and I think the aero profile makes up for that anyway. I've also got a set of Ksyrium Elite's, which are lighter, and I actually like the Cosmics better. They're great wheels, IMO.

yeah, there's good and bad info out there about them.

Check the dates on these reviews, coz they get a bit old after the 1st page.

I've gotta admit, the first few reviews were enough to put me off. I know they are probably rare occurrences, but that kind of stuff NEVER happens with 'normal' wheels. I decided that being 'only' 30mm deep and having 20 spokes, they wouldn't give me any real aero advantage over my 28-spoke 30mm wheels, so I'm saving for some Cosmic Carbone SLs.

yeah i checked on there and it kinda steered me away from them anyone know bout the Renolds Solitude? There isn't any reviews online about them and wanna know how they would work for me.

If you are looking for a 30mm wheel consider the Niobium 30 rim laced by a pro to some quality hub. You will wind up with a nicer set of wheels with easy to replace components (did you read the Fulcrum spoke thread?) that is as light or more likely lighter than anything you are going to find off the shelf.

The Reynolds Solitude is actually the same wheel as the older Alta Race wheel which may in fact use the Niobium30 rims. Pretty good wheel for under $400 but if you can find the Alta Race on closeout you shoul dbe able to get them for $250 plus shipping. http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/155...d-Wheelset.htm
