im having a bad few weeks here
at todays race the guy in front of me must have touched wheels so he went down and i instantly plowed into him and went over my bars
i broke my right arm, messed up my left shoulder pretty good and have road rash all over my back.
i hit my head again and cracked my helmet but i didnt black out or anything. i just have this huge bruise all over my head
even though it was 100% not my fault its still embarrassing to crash out spectacularly like that.
this more emotionally damaging and mentally frustrating then anything. the pain aint nothing compared to that

You'll survive man. Injuries can be a huge b*tch, I know. Between February of 06 and 07 I tore both ACLs, and had both of them fixed. You'll be off the bike for a while...but back on before you know it.
Just get some good race DVDs, relax, and focus on the stuff you can effect today. You can't fix your arm, so that's pretty much out

Ouch. That sucks. I had a crash while I was in school that involved a spectacular 15 foot long (later measured for posterity) endo that ended with me putting my arms straight out in front of me when I hit the ground. I broke bones in both wrists and both elbows (technically, it was forearm bones within a few millimeters of each joint). This happened during the reading days just before exams. I had to take a couple of them- the essay ones- orally, but I managed to fill out the multiple choice ones OK. Recovery did take a while, and I remember being completely shocked by the pain in my wrists when I lifted the driver's door off of the hinges of my truck about a year later. I almost dropped the door!

The straight-armed impact was necessary because I was flying out into the street and there was a car coming. I could have tried to roll out of it, but I suspect the secondary injuries from getting run over by a Lexus SUV would have been worse than the broken bones...

Wow Steve that is a serious crash. When body parts end up broken it is never good. Time to focus on healing.

I'm always sorry to hear bad news from good people. I thought it was a pretty impressive show of character riding after the car crash, I'm sure you'll come through this as well. Take advantage of the time off to enjoy all those things we sacrifice in order to ride, then come back and rip some legs off. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
