Malaise...

I'm feelin it. I came 4th in a crit about 2 months ago, and since then I've had mechanicals, work conflicts, and been hit by a car. (It seems like a rough season all round for BFers.) My training's been inconsistent, and to top it all off, I bagged out of going to a crit this morning. I hadn't paid already, but my car was loaded and ready to go before I went to sleep. Six o'clock came and I went... back to sleep.

It's that time of year I think.

There is a lull in racing around here until early August, due to many factors, not least of which is probably rider/official/volunteer burnout.

I'm feeling it too. 19 races into the season and I'm feeling the burnout. Time to just get on a fixie and ride for the heck of it with my buddies.

I always go into a malaise (or a coma) after being hit by a car.

I'm there too, Done 12 races so far this season, but have blown off the last couple. My training's been extremely limited in the last month, and my travel schedule really sucks.

I've decided to essentially start over. Back in base phase right now. Next week or two I'm jsut going to try and get some long miles in, and ride as hard or as easy as I feel like. Then I'll start building toward some events in September.

If you start racing in January, it's hard to keep going full tilt all year, particularly with work, travel, family etc to contend with also.

I've had one thing after another keeping things completely stalled. Cartilage tear/inflammation, healed up and I broke a toe. Got off of that and came down sick with something... fever, then a sore throat that kept me from swallowing. Each of these were about 2 weeks plus of downtime. This has taken up about 2 months plus, and I'm just really bummed.

It's not for racing, but there were some longer eventish things I wanted to be ready for, and I guess I just start back over to slow and easy bundles of miles. Back to the beginning. Sheesh.
