Never ridden a crit before? Here's some insight.

Shot this while sitting at the back of the 35+ race in Lansing on Sunday.
We weren't going slow, but we weren't cooking, either.

For those of you considering entering your first race, take a look and see that a Crit is survivable, and actually pretty fun.

Cool video. Someone needs to write a book on this subject, don't you think?

How fast were you going when doing that?

Pretty funny that you're leading a sight-seing tour at the same time...."There's the capitol"...

Hand held. (You can catch a glimpse of the cable housing when I have to hold on through the turns.

Nikon Coolpix 3200? Pretty standard digi camera.

23-25mph I'm guessing. I don't use a speedo.

No photos of my apparatus forthcoming. Nice try.
Book forthcoming. March '08. Thanks for the plug.

For part 2- you need to show us how to properly navigate from the back to the pack to the front. Bonus points if you then proceed to launch an well timed attack.

Four lefts or four rights makes up most crit racing and yes thats how I describe it also, its like NASCAR but we actually are athletes and our crashes are much more gruesome just at a lot slower speed.

To give a real perspective, get in the middle of the pack and film it going thru the corners with a CAT5 bunch hitting the brakes and being surrounded by sketchy riders.

Seriously, nice work. I'm thinking of setting a cam up for my next race. Is it possible for your setup to turn-on/off the cam so you can capture the start/attacks,primes/finish sprint?
