North Carolina Racing

I'm having trouble finding the North Carolina race schedule, anyone know where it's kept? Looks like I'll be going down to get an idea of the state during the weekend of Aug. 18th, I'm leaving Friday Aug. 17th and will be arriving at the Raleigh/Durham Airport. Will be leaving late Aug. 19th. I'd like to get some racing in to get an idea of the race scene down in that area, I'm a cat 4. I can't seem to find many races for NC on bikereg, do they have another place to register? I'm used to registering for all my races via bikereg...

Hmm, when I lived in the area, I used to use doughtnutboy racing's schedule, but it looks like it hasn't been updated this year. You can always show up for the "P-ride", 10 AM at Performance Bike's Carrboro store, which is sort of a "pseudo-race," complete with a finish line. Mostly cat 3/4.

Good roads in that area. I suspect that zimbo and Snuffy will have more info.

That appears to be an off weekend in the triangle area. If you can adjust your schedule, there's a RR in that area the next weekend. I know a bunch of VA guys travel down there to mix it up with our southern neighbors.

Uh, yeah, that'd be good to know, wouldn't it? Saturday. Sorry 'bout that.

The link that zimbo tried to give is the Carolinas Cycling Association, which has the most extensive list of races I know of. Go here, then click on the link for the Race Calendar.

As was previously pointed out, that weekend is an off weekend from racing. There is a mountain century going on that weekend, though- the Blue Ridge Brutal is on Saturday.

If you want a sampling of the local racers, the P ride curveship mentioned is a good option. Since it's an off weekend, there will probably be a fair crowd out for it.
