It's nice that they devoted some space to cycling.

That said...

Road race: Longer races, often several miles...

Whew! I just got done with a three mile road race, and boy, am I... not even warmed up yet.

That's great that he's getting a strong start. If he can keep his poop in a group for 6 or 7 years, he could really be flying.

So, if I get my average speed above 25mph, can I apply for my Cat 2 upgrade?

Ben at 14 is podium placing in full field Cat 3 races. He is maybe the most mentally mature 14 year old I have ever met. I think being over 6ft at that age helps as well.

From LAMBRA.org *guess everybody wants to claim the national champion as theirs*. Funny since hes still here in Memphis.

Ben Gabardi in Stars and Stripes at the USA Cycling National Championships. Ben recently won the USAC National Criterium and Time Trial Championships in the Junior 13-14 age group. Riding for the Memphis Motor Werks team, he recently moved back to the Jackson, MS area after a year in TN. He also won the 2007 LAMBRA state championship road race in both the Cat. 4 and Junior classes

That is funny. Unless he commutes daily to Memphis just to ride our fine roads.

it'd be nice to see someone like this go far, unfortunately the majority of them just kinda fizzle out.

I wonder if he did the Track Nats in CO? I'd know those bikes anywhere, Lapierre's. There was a while team riding them in CO, and the same team in PA. I didn't race in his age group, but he's undoubtedly fast.

Yeah, sounds like a badass.

I was 6'1" at 14, and I was a total goofball. I think it may have helped people perceive me as more mature though
