Good on them. I think more of these sorts of measures are needed to help overcome the doping problem.

DocRay: Do you actually race, or do you just sit on your backside whining about doping? You whine far more than Cadel.

Lawsuits over lost publicity help overcome the doping problem?
Gee, looks like Cadel will rule the peloton in 08 with his lawyer. Great sportsman.

Maybe he should learn something from McEwen and gain publicity by winning.

We'll just pretend he would have gotten anywhere near the top ten without everyone getting kicked out.

I hate to burst your Evans hate balloon but not once is it mentioned that Evans is personally suing Astana. The team is doing it. Try this line for example:

The Predictor-Lotto ProTour team is planning on filing a claim against Alexandre Vinokourov and his Astana team for loss of publicity.
Notice that the team is suing because they lost brand exporsure because of what Vino did. Despite the fairy land beliefs of some the companies that sponsor these teams are doing it for the advertising and exposure. They don't do it for ****s and giggles. Evans is the rightful winner of the Time Trial but that's not something you would sue over. Losing money because some has been blatantly cheated is.

Are you seriously implying that the people who were kicked out didn't deserve it? Rasmussen was a lying ****** and was kicked out by his own team. Only someone with something to hide would lie about where he was, knowing the risk. Evans earned his second place finish whether you like it or not. In all honesty you should probably stop posting.

Won't hold water. Phonak's name recognition, went way up during the two years it was plagued with scandals. Doubtful that a runner up can prove that they somehow got less air time or publicity while the TDF is splashed all over media outlets that otherwise would devote a few lines of the box score to the standings. Lose some live TV coverage, gain a bunch more.

You'd be left with a whole bunch of disputable statistical analysis, the case is going to be horribly expensive to research and try, for venue alone.

Nice deal for the lawyers and expert witnesses though. Hard to believe the team, which is already making noises about how expensive it is to pay Cadel, has deep enough pockets to sustain this. Bad, bad investment.

I think you're probably right on this one, but even if it doesn't stick, hopefully it will make teams and riders think twice before doping when they realize that there could be more dire consequences than a simple two year ban for an individual rider.

They're suing because one team suing another team is publicity.

Ironic really.
