Hincapie Going to T-Mobile?

On Marca's website (a Spanish newspaper) it says that Hincapie has signed up with T-Mobile. Anyone else heard of this. He'll look great in pink. Maybe they'll give him a better chance at the sprints than Discovery.

His job will be to chase down breakaways with his own team mates in them.

It seems he's pretty good friends with Michael Barry. His wife's family might be a consideration also.

I heard last weekend from a pretty reliable source that it might not happen. However, that was before T-Mobile confirmed sponsorship this week.

His wife is French, why would her family be a consideration for him joining T-Mobile?

George is no dope. He knew there would be no dough for Disco in 08.

At least my man has a job for next year. I hope he wins Paris Roubaix before he retires. Nobody deserves that more than George. What a fabulous career.

Don't forget he's from Long Island and he won his first big races in NYC's Central Park. You gotta love that.

.
In hindsight, the Disco disbanding announcement was clearly foreshadowed by Hincapie going to T-Mobile. I seriously doubt he would have left Disco voluntarily.

He's actually from Queens. The line between Queens and Long Island is sometimes argued, though.

The T-Mobile deal had everything to do with money - not family or friends. Hincapie is a professional athlete, not a kid backpacking through Europe.

The reason I posted this question is because I knew about the rumor (you hear a lot of those) but was unaware that the signing had come along.
