Final (?) Pcad TT Position
Seat substantially more forward, bars/stem lower, seatpost higher. 1mph+ faster on the same course in this position, I think it is more aero. I am comfortable droping the hamer. When i do, my butt probably slides a bit more forward than in this photo.
I did try to move the aero bars in to be narrower, can't ride them however. This is about my limit. I do have an aero helmet for races by the way. I won't wear that dorky thing in training, I look like George Jetson. This is such a stupid friggin sport. God help me.

What's odd about riding a TT bike is that when you first get into the aerobars your initial impression is like 'oh forget this, I can't ride a bike like this'. Then you start to get used to it. Then you find out how FAST it is, particularly on downgrades. Then you start to LIKE it. A lot.
Digging the TT bike thing. That's why I may not totally suck at TT's. I like riding the bike quite a bit. Well, OK, i'll still totally suck at the TT's but I'll ENJOY them and the training : ).

In other sports they get to wear cool stuff. In cycling we wear crap that's so unimaginably geeky looking that if you wore it to the next Comic Con or Trekkie Fest you'd be labled a nerd. I'm also tryng to understand how your elbows would be behind your hips on any bicycle besides a WWII Battle of Britain airfield bike, but it's not happening.

I've put 382 mi over 6+ weeks on my Slice, but I'd say that I was comfortable after 60-100 miles. Every time you change the position substantially (an inevitable part of the dialing in process) that re-adaptation process begins anew. However I now find that each new position is only taking 15-20 miles to get comfortable with, not 100. And once I'm dialed in on the new position I can ride my TT bike for 2-3 hours at a stretch. I'm not sure I'd take a TT bike on a 100 mile ride. Which is why Ironman athletes are rather amazing to me. RACE on a TT bike for 112 miles after a swim and before a full marathon?
Not Pcad. Never. Pcad is wussy.
You can't tell if you're ever going to get comfortable on a TT bike in 20 miles. No way. You have at least ride the bike for weeks, be sure you have a good position, etc.

Do you TT with those Mavics? World most un-aero wheel. If you dont have anything more aero do you have something lighter?

The race wheels will be Zipp 404s by the way. Tubulars of course. Those Mavics are very cool for training however. Nice wheels, indestructible. Love 'em.

Looks fast. When you're comfortable in this position (AKA, ride it for a few months, then try this), you may want to see if you can get lower in the front, but the ability to do so is very individual and hit or miss.
If you want the full benefit of the TT helmet, it wouldn't hurt to drop your head more (think looking out the tops of your eyes). Turns your head more into a fairing for your back, and loses some frontal area.
Like I said though, looks good. Stick with it for a while, then start playing again.

Your socks aren't aero.
Oh and to be actually helpful, your bars don't need to be in more. Your elbows should divert the wind outside of your knees which it appears to do.

I don't have a gut chipcom. That's my sixpack bunching up in a '300'-like mass of rippling Spartan muscle underneath my overly baggy long sleeve turtleneck. And please look at photos of Lance's TT form. He had a hump on his back like a camel. Never slowed him down. Any time you wanna race, I'm there fat boy. Yet another BF Gauntlet has been droped. Pcad is a IV on the road, but a Cat 2 Trash Talker.
As for the booties, it was damp, cool and sort of threatening rain. Pcad's policy: if it's below 60º or there is greater than a 30% chance of rain, the booties come out. Of course by the time I got home it was 78º and sunny, but the odd thing about booties is my feet don't ever seem to overheat in them. Besides, they do confer that Hard Boys of the Spring Classics Look upon Pcad, so I wear them whenever possible.
I agree with UT Dude - I think TT position evolves as you get more adept at riding one of these bikes. I might eventually be able to get that front end lower still... But this is a good starting point. Feels VERY fast, particularly going downhill. It's rather amazing how rapid you can descend when you lower that wind resistance. Scary in fact.

Yeah, that looks pretty cool from here. I too say to get lower -- just work on it, stretch, then stretch some more. I'm almost ready to drop mine again (removing my pad spacers).

I formally apologize for the saddle bag. In my defense, it is rather small and it is a Pearl Izumi. In a pinch those mitigating factors might possibly forstall immediate curbside execution by the Road Nazis.
