A little late, but I'm surprised that no one has posted anything about Monte Paschi Eroica.

Those aren't dusty roads. Those are unpaved roads. When the motorcycle in front of the peloton has three wheels, you know you're F'd.

Nobody's going to roll a tubular on that crap. You'd slide into the weeds way before that ever happened.

If I were Pro, this would be tops. Right next to all the cobbled Classics. Fantastic event. Wish I could get video of it.

That looks amazing. It seems the riders liked the course, aside from the dust. Another Classic in the making?

And, that looks rather similar to the area portrayed as Russell Crowe's home in "Gladiator".

I was going to post all about this, but got sucked into watching poker for 12 hours on ESPN2.

Cool pics, botto.

^^^ I'll be the dissenting opinion, I think that looks like it would absolutely suck.

yeah, a mouthful of that dust would be awful, let alone repeated moutfuls for the entire race...

reminds me of the Battenkill-Roubaix (which, incidentally, is on track to be an NRC event).

in other words, very, very cool.

Do you think anyone would go with a CX bike on that route, or just a road set up with a bit more durable wheels (and possibly gatorskin ultras/equiv) ?

Judging from the responses from the pro's that participated, their managers and officials it seems they were comparing it to Paris Roubaix in that it has the potential to eventual be on the level of a classic.
They're thinking it would be ideal to include it in the Pro Tour (if it lasts) and rescheduling in the same period of the season as the other classics.

Exceptionally beautiful photos.
