Two words, Botto

"Ed Whitlock"

Why these two words?

Ed Whitlock was born on March 6, 1931. In 2003, at the age of 70, he ran 2:59:10 marathon. At the age of 75, he ran a 3:04:54 at the Rotterdam Marathon on April 15, 2007.

I ran my fastest marathon at 40, and there's nothing better than burying some 22 year old piece of **** in a 10K after he's told you to "move aside grandpa" at the start after seeing a grey beard. I've won races overall (albeit poorly attended local 5Ks) past the age of 40.

Sure, you lose some fast twitch musle, and your max heart rate plummets, and your hair recedes, and you get more wrinkles, and it takes you longer to recover, and you'll need to fill that viagra prescription. But, it's all good.

I'm a day late (and I'm blaming that on the fact that I turned 40 in September...) but happy birthday, Botto.

I would be on the ledge too if I had to ride a Giant with sloping top tube rather than my custom bikes!
Happy Birthday, botto!

By the time you are 41 I'll find someone older who won a major race.

As long as you can ride no need to cry.

Yes, but Joop Zoetemelk was also a character in hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy.

With a name like Joop Zoetemelk you either have to be a star cyclist or a politician from the south.
