Son-of -a-b**** this crap pisses me off. Sponsors pulling the plug on millions of dollars worth of salaries, livelihoods and dreams. T-Mobile can eat my Enron hating shorts. Business ethics, now that's an oxymoron. Sportsmen look like angels compared to those pansy stockholders!!! That said, Hincapie will now find his way onto a real classics team, like he always should have (ala Boonen). |
Effectively immediately. Wow! I think this mostly falls in the lap of Patrik Sinkewitz. I'm sure they didn't like the way he was piece mealing out his confessions. If you're going to come clean do it all at once. He denies, then admits, then 'tells all' to get a shorter sentence, then every time people start to forget he spits out another tidbit about somebody else. I'm sure T-Mobile didn't want to go thru an entire season of that. I don't blame them. I can't believe he thinks he'll get a shot with another team....and he thinks HE'S the one that got thrown under the bus. He was DRIVING the bus. How can they have enough money to pay everyone without T-Mobile?

Officers from Germany's Federal Crime Office (BKA) recently raided the homes and laboratories of the two doctors. "T-Mobile's decision to end its involvement in professional cycling is a challenge for the sport and our team," Stapleton said in a statement on Tuesday. "We have an outstanding international roster of exciting young talent backed by proven veteran leadership for 2008. "We will likely be the youngest team in the ProTour and believe that together, these athletes can shape the future of the sport with their talent and commitment." I don't think GH will go anywhere personally. They are still going to have the team...still going to races...I am sure there is an exit clause in the contract....so I bet they have money for a year.....
Also I think they will get a sponcer pretty quick....I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw a "Team High Road" jersey..... I think it is good anyway...the Germans have been telling us for a long time they were not going to put up with it.....well, they didn't.... I would love to see more US coverage of racing though....:) |

The team will definitely have a problem finding a new sponsor willing to kick out the same amount of money. The team is a business and most likely has a year to find a new sponsor or fail as a business. T-Mobile had a huge operating budget and replacing those monies will be difficult. I wouldn't be surprised to see the team fall apart at the end of next year.

George is not exactly a 'champion' either. He's a very very good rider who's won a few races when he hasnt had to be a super domestique. Nothing more, nothing less. To me, he seems to be too laid back to do well in what will have to be a very rigid, controlling and personally invasive system, that a team like High Road will have to be. I dont see him heading to Slipstream, for the same reasons. |
