I guess I didn't update in this thread.

I will be riding with Austin Bikes in 08. It sounds about perfect for me, with a group of guys looking to race M35+. It's not an overly structured team, everyone races really well together, and there's not much of a time commitment outside of racing. Should be a lot of fun. Also, they have a good turnout for the Tuesday Nighter and the Driveway crits, so that will make things really fun

I've been riding with a lot of these guys anyway, so I'm looking forward to working together formally.

are you serious?

sure, they look great when you've got a tan, they're brand new, and there's no rain in sight.

at least you can be rest assured that nobody will want to sit on your wheel if your racing in the rain.

Be in good enough form by mid summer to do well at the Albany crit and not be burnt out by Benicia. Otherwise do as many races as I can and find out which ones I like the best. Learn as much as possible.

I switched to that team too this year. Look forward to racing with you later in the season. Truth be told, I rushed to 4's last year from 5s straight out of EB's and really it's not worth rushing or worrying about. Not all that different, except the occasional later start time.

1. Triangle Velo
2. The Triangle area of NC (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill)
3. Don't know yet. Probably hit a stage race or two this year.
4. Survive and pay my dues as a 2. Anything beyond that will be gravy.

Interesting. Is Triangle Velo a new team?

I'm still on C4, although with moving up to Chapel Hill in the fall, I'll be looking for a new team at some point.

Snuff-

Yeah, I had to keep it under wraps until just before the holidays. It is indeed new. It's a small (6-7 riders) team, all cat 2s. If we get some good results, maybe some of the guys will be able to move up- we'll see.

If you're a 3 when you move up to CH, FSC would no doubt love to have you- I had figured we'd try to get you onto FSC then.

Good stuff. You should for sure be able to make some things happen in the 2s.

I was worried for a second there that FSC was going the way of the dodo or something With the looming knee stuff I'm looking at, I'll be lucky to be on form as a 3 in late July. 2009 on the other hand, I have big hopes for.

Nope, FSC will still be around- no worries there. Looking forward to getting you up here so you can get in on our racing action more easily.

I'm particularly looking forward to (or alternatively I'm afraid of) doing group rides where I'm not the fastest guy. Solo intervals are good, until the iPod battery dies, and I start talking to the wildlife...

1. Darkhorse (used to race collegiately for Duke)
2. Cincinnati area
3. What used to be called the OVR Spring Series. Summer Solstice later on.
4. Learn teamwork (been racing mostly solo for a while). I won a couple last year, and I'd like to help my teammates do the same. Get to know them. Try to help racing grow in the area.

truckin and Snuffy -- I miss the P ride. Wish there was something in this area like that.

All being well I'll be moving somewhere before the end of the coming season... Just don't really know where.

DC is most likely, but London, Edinburgh, Brussels, and Zurich are all real possibilities... Madison, WI or Charlottesville, VA if it all goes to hell but my fiancé takes me back on the condition that I follow her to the ends of the earth. Shetland is on long odds (actually not a bad cycle scene there - just a very short season and lots of salt spray).

Any recommendations on teams / clubs in those spots?

Treefox- great riding out of C'ville as you no doubt know. I don't know of clubs/teams there other than UVA's, though. DC you'd have your choice of about 90,000 teams. Several of my friends have ridden for NCVC and have enjoyed their time with that group. Can't help you with the other places you mention

Don't know anything about Charlottesville other than that my parents got engaged there (random). Isn't it kinda a highway tract wasteland??

It's occurred to me that the Universities of Wisconsin, Virginia, Maryland, and Georgetown might have some sort of associate something or other status that could let me use some of their stuff as a husband of a student - Oxford, where I currently am, does do that. So might be able to ride with university teams, though I doubt I could race.
