Damn, I thought I posted this in the Racing subforum.

I'm such a n00000b.

cslone 02-02-08 06:01 PM

I'll probably be in the 3's. I may bring Sanocho with me in the 5's, but he'll whine about not riding enough lately. :)

LowCel 02-02-08 06:43 PM

I'll be there. This will be my third year at it. It was actually my first race ever two years ago, first and only road race I've won. :o

nitropowered 02-02-08 06:49 PM

I might go do it. It was very windy last year. Not sure if I want to do 1/2/3 or 3/4 yet

cslone 02-02-08 06:50 PM

Yeah, like the 8" of snow and 17 degree start temp last year?

Man, I hope it's warmer.

It was kinda cool though how we actually walked on top of the snow, never did sink down into it.

LowCel 02-02-08 07:06 PM

On a side note this is one of the closer races for me to get to. Only have to drive 307 miles round trip for it. :D

Duke of Kent 02-02-08 07:09 PM

If it's "warm" in Maysville, KY, that weekend I'm opening up my season with the Schabobele/Mentor double. 45 and up and I'm racing...in shorts. I'm staying home otherwise.

If not, I'll start with your Ohio series, one or two from the Mid-Ohio/Glen Hill Tour/Aucton Lake trio.

My first big race of the year is 88 miles and at the end of March, and as I'm the type of person who NEEDS race miles in order to be in anything resembling decent shape, I have to travel far and wide to get them in this year.

i went to this last year. my only question is: is this actually a sanctioned race? last year, i was under the impression that it was more of a competitive ride, but the ovr site has it listed as a race this year. any ideas?

as for me, i may or may not be able to attend any of these races. i am still trying to regain fitness after medical issues, and am not in any condition to race.:( i am confident that i will be in decent shape in a few months though.

Going down to do Schabobele/Mentor, too.

Looks like there'll be a pretty good Chicagoland contingent – I'm bringing three teammates back to my old home turf.

daytonian 02-02-08 10:35 PM

I'm probably gonna do Mentor.

05/24/08 05/25/08 Syracuse Race Weekend Syracuse
crit is a little sketchy, rr has at least one serious (>10 min) climb

June
06/21/08 Jonathon Dechau Memorial Time Trial Rushville
long ... ~40K

July
07/12/08 07/13/08 Owasco Stage Race Auburn

supposed to be a big money race in downtown columbus march 2nd(think thats the date), crit race with laps around the river across the broad street and town street bridges and thru COSI's parking lot(genoa park), that makes for a pretty fast but brutal course on a typical winter day with two small hills plus the prevaling wind hitting you in the face on civic center drive coming across the river

nate and davey rocket said they're going so that's one cat 2 and one cat 3 so far that I know of, mason is a probable appearance in the cat 5's

i won't be there...business trip. good luck to you, daytonian

The first (non TT) race out of the gate for me will be Mid-Ohio on the 1st of March

curveship 02-03-08 11:14 AM

Darkhorse team camp is the weekend of Schabob & Mentor, so I'll probably start racing with Tim Tyler's Hueston Woods race on 3/15. Either 3s or 1/2/3s depending on how training goes b/w now and then.

cslone 02-03-08 11:37 AM

Cough, 123, cough.

Yeah, I kinda thought about doing Greeneville since it's pretty close, but my new TT bike and disc still aren't in. We'll see if I feel like driving that day, 40 minutes or 90.

Road bike with powertap rear, Stinger 90 front, here I come!

12 miles of aggressive chip seal in freezing temps - yikes. Frosty Toes is how far from Dayton? Are Tim's races gonna count. I heard they will not take them for points?

:p Me last year could kick me this year's @ss, so we'll see. At this point I'm sitting on two whole frickin' weeks of training and that's it.

Where did you hear that and what is the reasoning? You are talking about Tym Tyler's races right?

I was thinking about using my Orca in Greenville since I've not put a lot of recent miles on the TT bike yet this year.

From his race flyer

"RESULTS: The results will be sent to USACycling each week, what they do with them is anyone’s guess, but we will get them there and see what happens."

Doesn't sound too confident.

I heard (from a guy that's cousins with this dude that knows someone that got a note passed by some other dude that) USA isn't recognizing his races. This was brought up last Fall, but basically the reasoning is he uses little or no corner marshalls, no pacecar officiating, and by that the yellow line rule is not in effect. All the stuff that makes a RR safe, he doesn't apply. His categories are now A-D.

Also, I know it's cold in February, but a 20 or 30 mile RR?

You could e-mail and get the 411 from him tymtyler@teamcolumbus.org
