I Had to Ask

Sex the night before a race. Good, bad or indifferent?

I've heard varying opinions, and I want to know what you guys think.

try to limit yourself to 45 minutes.

As long as you don't stay up all night and get silly with the Alabama Crag Dangle you'll be fine.

BlessedHellride 02-18-08 09:43 AM

Do you really think a couple of minutes will hurt? ;)

ZeCanon 02-18-08 09:47 AM

Maybe get some extra testosterone going?

I've never noticed a difference.

Greg180 02-18-08 09:50 AM

If you are not a professional cyclist getting paid large sums of money to race, why would there ever be a choice between sex and racing. I'd much rather finish strong in bed and limp around the race with a lopsided grin on my face.

Silly question. IMO

TheKingFiphtin 02-18-08 09:53 AM

I read in playboy a while back that sex before an event was great for female athletes, because it increases testosterone levels which improves performance. They didn't say anything about male athletes. I'd say go wild, though. As long as you're not too sore the next day you'll have even more reason to smile than you would anyways. That can't be bad

Yes. Always.

cslone 02-18-08 10:02 AM

Well, you might still have trouble sitting on the saddle the next day but you should be able to pull it off. :p

Sex night before a race, good;
Staying out all night looking for sex, bad.

Yes, but keep it in zone 2. A few zone 3 intervals may be okay.

bdcheung 02-18-08 12:42 PM

It's not sex before a race that'll hurt you. It's all the time you waste looking for sex that'll kill ya.
