Bike Porn - The OTHER bike.
People who have been riding or racing for a while usually have another bike squirreled away somewhere that is their "B" bike. This isn't the bike you usually ride, or should be riding, it is ...the other bike.
When I lived on the left coast is was considered bad form to show up to a winter group ride without fenders (and a cut in half water bottle tacked onto the end of those!). That was your rain bike. It was ok to ride that one. Your good bike actually appreciated it.
This is a bike of a different kind. This is the bike you are supposed to ride if your 'good' bike is down. An emergency, back-up kind of bike. This isn't the bike people expect to see you with nor is it the bike that you talk about. In fact, maybe only a few close friends have ever even seen this bike.
What happens when you start to have more fun with this bike than you do with your regular bike. Is it just a fleeting thing? Is it that yearning that most men have for what ever bike they are not currently riding? Is it resentment for the fact that there is an expectation, on the part of those in your local cycling community, that you ride such and such a bike ONLY? It's as if they think you aren't good enough to have another bike set-up somewhere that you ride when they are not around.
In the interest of being open and honest about what I ride and when, here are some pics of my other bike. Join me. Keep it a secret no longer. Liberate yourself and show the world your other bike!

It's at my mom's house, just 'cause I don't have room here in my place in Chicago. Running 8-speed STI on the rear, downtube front shifting, with Ultegra/OP wheels. Nothing fancy, but it's a fast ride and has never let me down.

I just finished my "other" bike a day or two ago. One of the Group Buy Le Roi's and the old kit off of my first CR1. It needs black wheels, but otherwise, I think it's getting it's inaugural ride tomorrow in what could be the rain. I hate the Red on my CR1, so I think I may end up liking the 'other' bike more... Uh-oh...

My good bike isn't as nice as some of these "other" bikes. Of course, the engine isn't as good either.

I picked this up a couple of days ago to train on. I got tired of cleaning the white '95
But honestly, I think I like it more. Don't tell anyone!

Though my CF bike is on the other side of an ocean at the moment, so this is my primary bike for all but TT's.

Some seller on eBay has them for most brands. If you look under the Le Roi group buy thread in the for sale forum, it's in there somewhere.

I am selling my current bike and bought this for a replacement. Hopefully will have it built up in a couple of weeks.

To see the benefits of the Transformers Big Wheels, click here: https://www.maj.com/gallery/JINZONING...powercycle.gif
My brother had a Transformers Big Wheels when we were little. One day, I was out front riding it without asking him. My friends stopped by, I got off the Big Wheels to go play some two hand touch. I left it by the garbage cans, which hadn't been picked up yet. When I came back the Big Wheels was gone, and the garbage cans were empty. It was a sad day.
