Millars time.
As a fellow Brit.. I am chuffed to bits at David Millar at last coming good in a major time trial (The world championships in Canada).
He not only rode to victory but won by a convincing margin.
I sat in front of the tv and cheered him on all the way, but the "icing on the cake" was catching "Nozal" on the road and going past him, after what happened in the Veulta. Brilliant......

Just ride.
I didn't see his ride in the Worlds, but what struck me about his ride in stage 17 of the Vuelta was how smooth he was, and effortless he made it look. To watch his form, you'd think he was noodling, then you see the other riders trying to catch him. Amazing. You couldn't tell he was spent until he sat up at the end.

He reminds me of Indurain who also never really looked like he was working hard.
He's so different than a rider like David Etxebarria.

After watching Millar the past few years and feeling that he had a lot more potential than he showed I think this is a great victory. Hopefully Millar will use this as a springboard to bigger and better.

Sorry guys, I slipped into the venacular with "Chuffed".
Look at my location! Chuffed in the dictionary of "Larn yerself Geordie" translates as "delighted"

Good result. Did anyone mention he considers himself to be Scottish
However, as I'm not his biggest fan (he behaved like a complete tube in the TdF) I can only hope he took the win and celebrated with his usual humility.

He's got it physically, but mentally he's a long way to go before he's truly a great cyclist. I hope he makes it.

Yes I agree, any problems Millar has tend to be in his head rather than physicaly, there is not a more stylish rider out there.
On the subject of the World championships. Any one watch the womens road race. A Brilliant event I think you will agree. The best tv cycle racing event I think I have ever watched. Jenny Longo`s solo bid for victory at the age of 45 (there` still hope for us old`ys) was terrific. Despite Nicola Cook (Brit) being in the group of riders chasing her down I was cheering her on to hang out for the finish, but she was caught 500 mts from the winning post. Great entertainment.....

It amazes me! Here we are in the US and we have no coverage of the World Championship. Meanwhile 3000+ miles away they have full coverage. Whats up with that? I mean the US is what, one block south of Canada.

I dunno!. Maybe stick with Stan (boardnan) being famous for bad teeth sounds good old "Scouse" humour to me.....
Anyway back to subject, World cycling Championships.
The young lady that finished second in the road race, not to sure of her name, Dutch girl "Muesaia" or something like that, wasn`t she a remarkable look alike to the actress "Jenny Agutter" when she was at the same age.

I beleive he was born in Malta, then moved to Hong Kong (hence the very English accent, as they speak English in HK), than presumably back to Scotland, and then on to Italy to start his career.

So why do they (Phil and the gang) seem to give the impression that he is british ?
Do we have a (true) brit that we can rally for?, not trying to be a snob or anything, just want to support our boys (and girls)

Great ride. Wish I could say the same for the rider. I have always had a lot of respect for Boardman, and never had an ounce for Millar.

Millar's parents (I assume) are Scottish. He is therefore legally British (and HK was part of Britain at the time). And if we can call Greg "Canada Dry" Rusedski British, why not a man that actually has an English accent?

Dave was born in Malta. Went to Scotland for a while. His parents split up. His mum then lived in England and his dad, as a pilot for Cathay Pacific flying between Asia and the U.K, lived in HK. Dave decided to live with his dad but then came back to England to live with his mum. His mum decided her teenage son should have something to do in the evenings so suggested he join a mtb club. Mtbing led to road training, then the training led to time trialling. He was national junior tt champ at around 16 riding for the Duracell team. Then the next minute he seemed to be riding as an amateur in France. Turned pro at 19 with Cofidis and has been there since. Now living in Biarritz, France. Bit of a nomad!
